    1998 Trans Am WS6

    What DID I buy...?

Hey all. I'm at my desk at work and can't run down to check the car, but I wanted to get your guys' take. I bought my '98 WS6 about 3 weeks ago. I was ecstatic because it was a WS6, but now I'm not so sure... For starters, it has two exhaust outlets. I read that '98s only had one. Also, I glossed over my door panel the other day, and did not find WS6 anywhere. The only W I found was on WS9. It has the hood, the "Ram Air" decal, and the WS6 badge. Car is still in great shape, but did I get duped?

Picture of the rear exhaust outlets.

WS9 is the code for a formula trans am.

all trans am's are formulas, not all formula's are trans ams

    sorry man-that sucks

There would be a WS6 code on the sticker. Every option code is on that sticker, and WS6 is just the code for a performance option. Its still a very nice car from what I can see.

So I'm looking at a clone, eh? So this is more like a WS7?

Normal T/A's for that year had the duals but not WS6s?

Also, how could tell if I've actually got a functioning Ram Air system?

You have one regardless. Just open your hood and see how high your airbox is raised.

it is a very nice looking car-i coudlnt believe how red the bird is on the back panel.

functional ram air-that's always been a debate mainly b/c of the drag coefficint. The hood looks cool-no debate there

Appreciate the compliment. She really is beautiful... I'm just a little disappointed with myself...

It looks like a ws6 to me! Check the codes again

The first time I looked for ws6 on my door I couldn't find it. I nearly had a heart attack. But then I looked again and I found it right in the middle of all the codes somewhere.

The wheels. Guess someone went the distance on the cloning.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll check again, just to be sure. I went over a couple of times, but maybe I was too frantic. We'll see,

EDIT: That wouldn't explain the exhaust, though. Unless the seller got the year wrong...

looks like a ws.6 to me-dont' sweat it man, most factory ws.6s no longer have the "ws.6 parts" on it b/c everyone mods their car

how many miles? that looks exactly like my "batmobile" before i trashed it-check my profile and you'll see

your rims and paint look flawless

Thanks. She's pushing 37,500, I think. Maybe less. I fell in love with it, needless to say...

EDIT: They rims WERE flawless until I almost wrecked last week dodging a discarded semi tire on the highway. It was in between two lanes and I didn't see it til I was already changing. My rear driverside now has one or two nasty little pock marks...

How much? If you don't mind me asking.

Because I just bought my 98 ws6 with 38,000. Is it a manual?

That's true. If you wanted to, you would have no trouble making a T/A perform better then a WS6 in a small amount of time. That color looks even better out in the sun.

I'm embarassed to say, but I forked over 13,750. It was flawless as far as I was concerned, so I didn't mind. I wonder now, though...

    Oh, and it's auto.

It's charcoal grey leather. As far as I know, the car is not modded at all. Bone stock. I have plans, but no funds at the moment. Suggestions are welcome,
