pewter- 2002 ws6
what deos it mean
I am now the proud owner of a 2002 pewter ws6 and boy am i inpressed
but some one asked me the other day what deos ws6 mean all i could say is that it is the performance package, but what do the letters stand for?

It's an RPO code for the 'performance' package.
(Suspension, wheels, etc., etc., ...)
Check your tag on your driver's door jam.
See all the build codes?!?
See the WS6?
That's it. Done. End of story.

Like Pontiacfan said the are just RPO numbers (Regular Production Order). WS6 is a performance package upgrade for the Trans Am. Like a lot of the GM RPO's it has become mainstream, almost to think of them as words or something, examples I can think of right off.

Get the idea. The first I remember WS6, it was a heavy duty suspension option for Pontiac, much like the F41 heavy duty suspension in a Chevrolet, this was 30+ years ago

one more thing, i noticed today on my door i have a ws9 ....does this mean anything? and do the 02's really have an ls6 intake?

WS9 is the conversion from the V6-Firebird platform to the V8-Formula platform I believe.
Yes, the 2001-2002 received the upgrade to that manifold. Doesn't really mean much other than it helped eliminate the external EGR from the ealier models, & was supposedly a little better breather.
