    Weird white smoke

Lately my car has been puffing white smoke out of it AFTER i get on it for a few gears.. ill go through 1st and 2nd then come to a stop and and get covered in smoke for about 15 seconds, then a little will puff out... If i dont get on it at all ill get no smoke all week lol. Its really weird i dont know what it could be?

EDIT: I checked it out and this is what i found

typically white smoke is burning oil, can happen with burnt seals or filling the pan up with too much,

that nasty yellowbrown substance looks like an oil/water mix, it very well could be.

It sounds like your head gasket is leaking. Generally the white smoke means that there is coolant being burnt and blue smoke is oil.

Ya its more than likely your head gasket or possibly the intake. Coolant leaks into parts of the motor its not supposed to be, burns and comes out the exhaust as white smoke.

how do i fix this? Also, i read in an old thread it might be from building up from taking short trips without letting your car warm up and its just crap burning off... I take A LOT of short trips to work and back and sometimes i dont let the car warm up all the way. I think it might be this because i went to the track tonight and i didnt see any white smoke.... I also broke my tranny mount all the way too LOL

If you have enough coolant in your oil to stick to your oil cap I would be inclined to think its not from short trips but anything is possible I suppose. Fixing it is pretty self explanatory. Diagnosing if its the heads or intake could be problematic especially since its probably leaking internally.

    head gasket imho..

White fog like smoke is coolant being burned in the combustion chamber/s..

If you were burning oil that bad it would be blue in color..

Fire it up and hold a piece of card board over one of the tail pipes..

Just hold it there don't try to plug it lol..

Take the cardboard away and check the deposit mark on the board by dabbing it with your finger.

If it feels like oil it is..

If it's more of a wet/slime like feel it's coolant..

..and try not to breathe that shit too much..

It isn't good to run your motor hard before it has warmed up.

I have heard, I wish I could recall where, somewhere had signs to a blown head gasket similar to yours and they retourqued the head bolts down and it reduced the white smoke. But.... I can't verify this would worked.

well im down to try anything... Maybe ill torque em down a bit and smittro i did that the other day when it was smoking because ive had it smoke before when my valve seals were screwed up and i can pretty much tell you its a different kind of smoke, and no oil shooting out the exhaust..

YES. By far the most common reason for the gooey sludge on the oil cap is short trips and PCV system problems. So don't jump to the coolant/oil mix conclusion just yet.

Don't worry about the gunk in the cap. I pulled mine yesterday during an oil change, and it looked EXACTLY like that. I think moisture builds up in the cap sometimes, and will give you the impression it's coolant. How does the oil look on the dipstick after the engine is run for a few minutes?

it looks normal, the dipstick looks normal, it was just the smoke and the cap that was different. BTW i did another short trip yesterday to work without letting it warm up because i was running late and then it sat for 7 hours then i did the same thing home lol. Like i said i take A LOT of short trips like that.

What others have said about that milky buildup under the oil cap is pretty common for a short trip vehicle. Part of that cause is also the ethanol used in todays gas. It collects moisture, very hard on cars that sit for periods at a time or drive short trips.
Something to keep an eye on that might require more frequent oil changes along with a good fuel system additive.

most likely its from not warming up and taking short trips, let your car warm up in the morning before work and let it warm up before u take it home and i guarantee that crap goes away on the oil cap and most likely will stop smoking
