oh ok so that is what their raised air box is for.. how does the volant intake perform compare to the regular air box system??

The volant one is supposed to be the best performer of them all.

Use the search. I've read a few thread on here about them being the best ones. The K&N is the worst performer and the lids with factory box is second place.

I had a reputable shop install it. They put a whole new front on the car at the same time and lined everything up too. I had them recheck it after a couple of weeks to see if they could do something with it and they couldn't.

I like the Suncoast one better. Right now I'm running the K&N intake kit. I want to change that yet too. I'm going to do some other mods before I go back to messing with the hood and intake though.

The previous owner of the car did the hood and didn't get the Suncoast intake kit for it. What he did works for now, but I plan on changing it.

also it sounds the way you described the suncoast system it blocks off the actual ram air, is that right or no?

It doesn't really block it off it redirects it and it dumps through a bigger hole from the top. I don't know if it really works better or worse than the stock one. The air passages are really not very big in it. My air filter get dirty up there so I guess it must put some air into it.

You can run anything with it but the air will not be direct in to the airfilter if you run a stock box and lid seeing the opening is to the front of the car for the stock hood opening where the suncoast is from the top.

Welcome to last month, but I finally got a pic of the opening in the bottom of the Sun Coast hood. I don't have one of the Stock WS6 hood though. The top of the pic is towards the front of the car.
