wanted 96-2001 WS6 wheels
so my WS6 that i bought last year has silver painted WS6 wheels and since the car is silver i think it is just too much damn silver. i want chrome WS6 wheels and the ONLY place (other than ebay) that sells them is a place called lake shore wheel and tire. lake shore has a VERY bad reputation and i'm not going to get them from there. does anybody know where i can get a set from? i want a new set with no rash as i'm VERY anal about that kind of thing. i have thought about getting my wheels done but they have some minor rash from the last owner.
thanksLast edited by krese; 02-15-2011 at 06:02 AM.

Been looking myself for a set. I have my stock speedlines on my 02 that I've been wanting to get rid of since day one.

yeah, i think it's a lost cause.. as i said the ONLY place i can find them is lake shore (AKA tulip city wheels) but they have a BBB rating of F so i don't want to chance it. might have to settle for mine getting dipped.

Hiya....
Not sure if you realise but they are not actually chrome (as pictured by RichR)
They are in fact factory polished and clear coated.
I had to go the route you suggest with a silver painted WS6 rim i bought from ebay. I have all of the polishing equipment and i was a bit surprised to see a slightly rough cast finish on the spokes when i stripped all of the silver paint off! Obviously if you were to buy polished rims then you have a lot less work in the polishing dept. It is all man hours and machines may be good for some of it ...but certainly not all...
I then had around 25 hours of abrasive flap wheels, wet and dry, polishing mops etc to get a mirror shine. This then led me to think about the final finish and it is surprisingly hard to find anybody to clear coat a polished surface due to adhesion probs!! I subsequently went with a product called Optimum opti-seal to give a protective layer and it works very well.
Trev.... )

there are 2 different wheel options from the factory other than painted:
factory polished/clear coated and chrome. i believe those in the picture are in fact chrome.
i much prefer the chrome.
about 10 years ago i took my 95 formula painted 16" wheels to a shop and had them stripped and polished. they cam out great but that didn't last very long. with out the clear they go to shit quickly. it cost me $100 per wheel. i won't go that route again.... i'd rather get c4 Z06 chrome wheels for $500 than deal with bare aluminum... yikes. if my wheels were perfect i'd take them to a place that will chrome them.Last edited by krese; 02-15-2011 at 05:34 AM.
