    Volant VS. Airlid?

I have a 2002 WS6 A4 with 58K on it. The only mod I have done so far is a K&N Air Filter, on the brighter side I dynoed 321HP to the wheels on a DynoJet at EFI Alchemy here in Florida. I am wondering if anybody has an opinion if I should just throw on a lid and get happy or consider the Volant intake system? I know most people on here are partial to the airlid, especially the "ram air" guys with the higher deck lid hight, I just want to know if the Volant would make more power. I am aware that the volant costs allot more than say an SLP lid, but Im a one piece at a time kinda guy and I just want to make sure I get the best intake.

i love mine, although i still haven't removed the ram air baffle yet, but it fits pretty well. probably won't ever seal it, i don't see a need to.

and the blue oil is pretty much gone now after about 7mo. and I'm planning to just use red oil now.

doesn't support the radiator as well tho, most of us with volantes have fabbed small metal brackets for additional support.

I have no idea. The guy at EFI Alchemy couldn't believe it either. He even thought I was tuned or at least had my timing advanced but it wasn't. He uses EFI live to tune over their, he Just said it was a "factory monster". My dyno sheet is on the 'show me your dyno numbers' thread on here.

Goof4080, what do you mean blue oil and red oil? Are you referring to the oil used to lubricate the filters?

I hate the look of the Volant, I prefer he lid purely based on the neatness of the engine bay.

the comparison would be the volant cold air intake as opposed to the SLP cold air intake, not just a lid. when comparing those two the gains are similar

lid+kn filter= same bang with less buck, no brainer! volant looks too bulky anyway if u ask me. lid looks way cleaner.

OK Mr. Biased opinion. I didn't ask you to tell me what you have, I asked which one produced more horsepower? ACTUAL NUMBERS. The thing I did notice is that their is a guy on you tube with a video review of the volant and the fit n' finish of it appears to be terrible. I was attracted to the nearly completely sealed design but his review shows you have to modify the hell out of it to get it to fit. Thus, it is no longer sealed all the way. Minus 1 for Volant so far, still need dyno numbers!

I have seen a few 6 speed ls1's dyno 320-325 stock. Yeah Id say they are underrated a bit lol. However the norm for an (a4) is roughly 285-290.

i wont disagree, however, i have seen 2 ws6's 6 speed cars back to back dyno at around 280-290 whereas my formula a4 put down 306hp 331tq at our dyno day a while back. maybe their clutch's were worn out. who knows

Beats the heck outta me? I know mathematically an A4 should lose more HP to the wheels than a M6....if that's the case with ~20% power loss between the fly and the wheels with an automatic then Im looking at roughly 402HP at the flywheel? SWEET!! Of course that's just mathematically!
