I won't go into modding it. the lt1 actually makes around 260. the 96-97 has around 280 in the z28. the 97 ss is at about 300. 94 has a lot of restrictions on it that can be removed when doing exhaust. ie they have a single very restrictive cat that takes alot of power away from the motor.

edit: buy an ls1 if you want. they are faster factory for factory.
OMG!!!!!!!!! no... z28s ss's trans ams formulas Ws6s ls1 vettes... all have the same amount of HP.. period.. granted a 0-10 HP difference depending on year because of ls6 intake and what not.. but they are all the same... the "ram air" doesnt add any HP..

that statement didnt make alotta sense...

the engine has 350 C.I.. not 350 HP.. "they" say 315.. in reality... 345..

I am going by what they are rated at. that is all. they made major changes every year that really did increase power. the "ram air" was not one of them that made a difference. it did open the window to a cheap cai though. lol. like from 95-96 doing obd2. that screwed some people though on modding lt1's in my opinion. makes it harder to tune. in 96 though there was a major change in the exhaust system that did make alot more power by making the piping more straight and adding another cat to the system.

cid is cubic inch displacement. just a measure of the size of the motor.

I know. I am just saying on the lt1's. there is a 40whp difference between 93 and 97. 20 between 93 and 94. ratings are near the same though. 94 and 95 are my favorite though for modding due to obd1. gotta love it.

i don't normally. they said it was only a 10hp difference between 93 and 94, but it's really 20-25. just takes an obd1 conversion to make power in it and a maf

after full bolt ons and a small port and polish job with oversized valves and 1.6rr's with conical valce springs I put out around 360hp all three dyno's we did on it were within a day an the lowest was 359 highest being 365. I never did it when it was stock. I have a coworker with a dyno. we both have lt1's as our fun cars. he's got more power though. he likes modding his lt1 swapped 31 roadster more than his 2005 c6 vette. we got 440hp out of his lt1 with a 185cc port with a 560/540 cam. they make some power. we didn't put mine on there til we thought it was worth it. I don't know how much it was stock, but i am guessing from the .8 seccond drop in 1/8th mile time since I started modding it I am guessing around 260-270 factory whp. i would never say any more than that though. heck a cai intake is proven to make near 20whp on it.

they might have been. we have been skeptical of his dyno ever since he got it installed in his garage. I have an a4. the stage2 rebuild definitely helped it with getting its power to the wheels. I was able to feel it when i got the car back together. I have had problems the whole time I have had the car. tranny had some problems 2 months after I got the car. I had the torque converter go out about a month ago and leave me stranded on the side of the road. next my mom did donuts in it and tore up my differential. almost all of my mods have been when I was fixing something else. including the heads. I had the intake manifold off to put a new intake manifold gasket on it and to just clean it up. i ended up just pulling the heads and getting some work done on them. come to find out the valves were seriously worn and needed some work. I had them replaced because it was just easier and had them do a 3 angle vavle job while they were in there. in total including repairs the heads were 800 dollars. I paid another 280 to buy some 1.6rr's for it. the conical valve springs were because I knew I wanted to do a cam eventually.

no i didn't do one when I did the heads because they ended up costing too much to get fixed and all when I took them in. i didn't have the money for a cam, timing chain, and everything else that goes along with a cam swap, so I just left it stock cam for now. it is higher lift now and it does pretty well. I have no complaints. I like how it drives. I want to send my torque converter back to fuddle and go with a bigger stall and get a big cam eventually, but for now I am very happy with it. it's just tons of fun to drive and take to the strip every once in a while. oh track times. I don't have any since I did the heads and valve train. I also will have the 3.73's on there when the come in so it'll be different, but stock it ran 9.1. with cai and muffler it ran 8.9 (cai did almost all that gain.) with full exhaust it ran 8.7 on street tires and on some dr's that I borrowed from the coworker that has the dyno it ran 8.3 with a 1.7 60' at 86. on street tires i can't get off the line worth anything. the stock cam is horrible for drag racing. too much low end torque without as much top end. I had my gf there for the 8.3 run and 8.7. she saw them and it scared the shit out of her. she wants me to wear a helmet next time I go back. chances are I won't though. just because they told me to at the track doesn't man i will listen either. lol. my car won't look the same way it did when I went there last time.

just posted it, but I don't have any current numbers. best was 8.3 at 86 with a 1.7 60' on the guy with the dyno's dr's. I was never able to get off the line on street tires. I will post up numbers next time I go to the track. I will be on street tires though so my 60' will suck.
