    Universal o2's

Hey guys, I'm new here and this is my first thread. Anyway, I have a 98 WS6 and have codes for Low input on both upstream o2's. I've checked Fuel Pressure and volume and that seems to be within spec. My question is have any of you run universal O2's on your LS1 cars? I'm off work right now and don't really want to drop $160 on the Bosch sensors that only seem to last a year or two anyway's.

Never heard of a universal 02 either, only ones I've ever seen around here are the Bosch. I installed Bosch sensors for a LS1 Vette when had my LT headers installed almost 3 yrs ago and they still work great.

I don't have headers yet, very soon though. I have the rear o2 eliminators because the cat's have been gutted. The Universal is a 4 wire 02 without a connector, I can wire in the connector from the old o2's. I've used them on other cars like Alero's or Grand prix's with no problems, but I've never run them on a higher performance engine.

That's new to me I've always got direct fit at the store never even new they had universals. I would think it should work since just gotta make sure the connnections are good. Yeah I had my rear 02's tuned out when ditched my cats. When you get the headers just get the LS1 Vette sensors and you don't have to waste money on nthe extensions.

Well if I use these universals I can make them longer for the future LT's. Thats the plan anyway's. I can get these for $22 each so it would be a heck of a savings.

Oh so you slice together a sensor to a connector...I wouldn't recommend that. its a recipe for problems.

Nice, Thanks. So an LS1 Vette upstream sensors is what I need to go with the long tubes? Those are listed at just $30.

LS1 vette rear O2 sensors are the ones you need for LT headers. They have a longer wiring harness that reaches up to the k-member area where they plug in.
