underdrive pullies or gears???
I am new to the whole modding sensation, so here is my questions what are underdrive pullies and gears. How hard are they to install? and what is a good size to start out with. I street race every once and a while, and have slp loudmouth cat back exhaust, slp lid k&n air filter, smooth bellows. And rebuilt transmission with shift kit. Thanks for the help, clg82

There not gonna increase hp one bit, but they sure as hell will get u down the track faster. As for what kind are u a 6spd or auto
6spd=4.10s
auto=3.73's
U might wanna take it to a show to get them installed if your not very good w/ tools and cars. Its a bit more involved than changinf ur air filter, or replacing a lid

Red- 2000 Trans Am
I think the trend is 3.73's for auto and 4.10's for Manuals
Won't do anything for "horsepower" but will bump your acceleration up!

where is the best place to buy the 3.73 gears? and how much you think it would cost to install?

I have an under-drive pulley on one of my cars, I don't suggest buying one, not only is it harder to find a belt that fits, but it doesn't have the harmonic balancers that a OEM pulley has. Witch means it wears your crankshaft bearings a lot faster. I regret buying one. I would recommend the gears over the under-drive pulley any day. But then again, its all up to you. I would rather have my engine last longer, then to have it rev up faster.

For sure go with the 3.73 gears with an automatic if your looking for a boost in acceleration, my buddy just got them done less then a week ago, actually i think Thursday he got them done. Ill call him up tomorrow and see how much he paid to get them installed, and ill let you know. hes got a 99 Camaro

Computer No, it shouldn't effect the computer at all, i wouldn't see why. I know the WS6 has a 3.23 gear in 00. Not sure otherwise, i'm sure someone else knows.
