Trans Am vs Cobra
i know they have similiar 0-60 and quarter mile times, and i like the way the trans am looks much more.. idk if it matters but the cobra makes almost the same power with a whole liter less.. just curious what you guys think.. which is better?

T/A is better than all the Cobra's except for the Terms. T/A looks better than the Term though.

The Term is short for Terminator which is the 03 & 04 Cobra's that are super charged.

go w/ the trans am...not only does it look wickedly sexy but it responds great to bolt on mods...try that on fords modular crap and it won't nearly see the gains the LS1 experiences...unless you have money for a blower you can try and wake up the 02 cobra...but i would go for the TA...thatz just my .02 cents tho...go w/ what makes you happy

yep, throw on LTs, lid, and tune on a LS1 and pick up about 40 RWHP and 20-30 RWTQ. throw in a cam and pick up an additional 30-60 RWHP and 20-50 RWTQ depending on the cam. the numbers go up quick. Full bolt ons and a good cam you can easily achieve 400+ RWHP and 380+ RWTQ. not to mention have the sexy look with killer sound.
T/A
but seriously, like Assassin66 stated: go with what makes YOU happy...

That should tell you alot...
Now down to the question at hand... cobra or T/A... it all depends on the cash you have... im supposing your saying one between 93 and 04 not the new GT 500... and you might as well throw in the Mach 1 since its basically just an 01 cobra with a steel block and a vibrating lump of plastic...
if you have the bank and want something NASTY... go with a Terminator cobra (03-04), but be prepared to spend $15K+ on the car... and with a few grand in pullies, exhaust, and tunes youll be sitting pretty on about 400-450 rwhp and tq... and dont forget the factory bottom end will support 600+ and bolting a KB on that bad boy is prolly easier (not cheaper) than doing cam and headers on an f bod... and they are 6 speeds...
99/01 cobras and mach 1's are basically the same car sept you can get an auto mach and they are only hard tops... new edge corbas are well... not really worth it in my opinion... your gonna spend over $10k on the car... and my buddy has one with CAI, 3:90 gears, x pipe, cat back, and a tune. he is laying low 300's to the ground, but my stock 2000 vette can stomp him... in a 0-100 pull i prolly have him by 4 to 5 car lengths... and when it was stock i had him by like 10... (same with machs...) and 5 speeds.... JUNK PURE JUNK... hes thinking of dropping a 6 speed in his.... cause not only is he slower, but i get 10 mpg more on the highway than he does... and no forged internals... (all aluminum block though)
i wouldnt even mess with anything older than 99...
ls1 f bods are sweet cars... i wouldnt recommend a 98, but thats just me... so 99 and up... respond to bolt ons well... anything over 450 to 500 hp and you really should tear out the internals... they dont respond to boost as well because of thier 2V head design, BUT they are cheap...
you could find a car for $10k in good shape and with $4k worth of mods or so have a REALLY nice car... some of them out there are in the $20k range if you want low mileage...
and even an lt1 car wouldnt be bad... still 6 speeds... still respond well to mods... and you can even pick up older fire hawks for under $10k in good shape. if its looks that disuade you from an lt1 just remember you can swap the front clips...
So what should you do? like they said what ever you want... but if it were me... if i was going low mileage car and looking to spend upper $10ks- low $20ks... the terminator stang (actually regret not getting one over my vette)... other wise f body...
and watch insurance rates on the terms... i think they are rediculous... and in my opinion non S/C cobras and machs... just arent worth it...

The mach 1 arent that same as the 01 cobra motor, it has a compression ratio making it a little more powerful

I haven't seen an 03-04 Cobra for less than $25,000. Unless it's got 1xx,000 something miles, then maybe $21,000. I got my Firehawk for $13,000 including extended warranty (which will probably get voided as soon as I start modding it) For that at least $8000 difference, I can make my car a 500hp beast.

A Cobra (supercharged) will run 11's in the quarter for less than $1,000 without spraying.

But you're going to pay $25,000 (at least in my area) for an 03-04 Cobra. They are fast as hell, yes, but expensive as hell, too. Like I said, I bought my Firehawk for $13000, if I put another $10000 or more into it, it would ass rape a pullied Cobra. The Cobra could put a 2.6 or 2.8 Kenne Bell on it or a Whipple and could be low 10's or even 9's, but you're looking at spending close to $35000 or more. As of now, I wouldn't even pull up next to an 03-04 Cobra, even a stock one, but maybe after heads and cam and all the other shit it might be closer and for a LOT cheaper.

You can get over 500rwhp, maybe even 600 pretty cheap (relatively speaking), but 1000hp will take some cash to do it right and not have your motor blow up. They are forged, but not indestructable.
