i wouldnt worry about it if i were u...the GN had 235 bhp and 330 lb-ft...and as u already kno it doesnt have as much whp...from what ive just looked up it seems they are fast as hell off the line but dont have a whole lot up top...i wouldnt worry about it if i were u. plus its a 3500+lb car...so id think ud have the advantage

Performance: Grand National: 1/4 mile in 14.23 seconds @ 98 mph. GNX: 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, 1/4 mile in 13.43 seconds @ 103 mph.
I've seen plenty of drivers push stock GN's well into the low 13's...and many slightly modded ones go low 12's-high 11's....a friend of mine had a slightly modded GNX....no way my WS6 could beat that thing....it was wicked quick! Even a stock 86-87 GN or GNX is going to give you a good run for your money...
Here's a cool video of a pair of modded GN's racing a Viper...

The Grand National will run the quarter mile about as fast as a first gen TT Stealth. I raced one with my TT Stealth when I first got it and we stayed within a bumper of each other. The Stealth was stock at the time so unless you are worried about a car capable of a 13.8 in the quarter mile, then I wouldn't worry too much. The real problem is if he is REALLY stock, those cars are stupid fast with a few hundred dollars in them. The GNX is few and far between, so I doubt that if anyone has one they would be willing to beat on their car for a race.

86 then went intercooled... I dont know tons about them, but definetly 13s stock and factor in that the tire technology has come a long way.

well i have a 00 ws6, my pops has the 86 gn with a lil bit more beefed up turbo and we went to the track.. he was runnin drag radials and i was completely stock.. i beat him all 3 times, but he did manage to run a 13.2. he was just a lil slow off the line with turbo lag. but thats all good. if hes stock it would be a good race but ull most likely take him. especially since some of the 98 t/a's have better cams.
