With the wreck of my 2000 SS Camaro was looking to replace with a 02 Trans Am or 06 GTO, what do you guys think would be a better ride? THX

06 GTO will definately have more power to begin with. Trans Am will look better. just my opinion.

Well, ask yourself one question. Do you want a foriegn car that Pontiac tried to pathetically pass off as a GTO, or a REAL American muscle car? Did you really HAVE to ask on the Firebird section?

This topic has been beaten to death. Get what ever car you like more. Nothing more to it.

yes the firebird was made in canada but it was not a car produced for a canadian car division, called something completely different, and then given the firebird name when it was decided to bring it over to the US....the firebird was always produced to be exaclty what it was a firebird, made in canada or not, its never been a canadian car. It was produced to be a firebird in america from the start. I would get the Trans Am and mod it, you can always make it as fast or faster then the GTO, and then you dont have to deal with owning a car that was never a GTO in the first place

Was kind of thinking TA myself, better looking car in my opinion. Was curious if anybody else had a good argument on getting the GTO though. Kind of looks like a honda on steriods, but sure would like an LS 2 400 HP base, would seem to be easier to mildly hop up. I appreciate the responses! THX

The T/A looks cooler, but I think the GTO would drive much better and make a better DD.

Just the guy I'm looking for! You have both cars, my wife already has a 98 Trans Am. I can get a 02 TA (ram air) for about 12K, a low mile 06 GTO around 20K (auto/manual). Which one would make a better pick? Which one has more low end torque?

It all depends on what you want. I definitely have more fun driving the WS6 with the T-tops off on a nice day. The GTO is a nicer car though. The GTO has more power from the factory but to wake the car up the first thing you need to do is tune it. It has all kinds of torque management stuff from the factory that makes it a slower car than what it should be. They are both great cars. I would get a GTO if you already have a Trans Am.
