I'd say generally my power kicks in after 30-40 MPH hard if racing a good competitor around the same HP as me.

The manual does not say our cars need to be run on premium (just recommended) although I would rather it.

It just cost to much sometimes, I only put 87 in when it's just a few dollars worth to get the most outta my buck. I never fill it with that or even go as far as half a tank with it.
I don't have allot of big mods done right now, I'm in school and this is unfortunately my only car right now.
    Nothing you'll notice??

Umm, if the PCM pulls 10* of timing due to the shitty fuel you're using, your definitely going to notice a huge difference in power and fuel economy.

Ok look I drive my car no one eles I know how it acts and I have used 91,92,93 and 87 and I have never felt or noticed a major differance No matter what the pcm does. I am not arguing the fact that you'll see a differance on a dyno though.

Haven't heard good things about TCI.
    No experience myself though.

I had a simular problem with my WS6 and took it to the dealer, they cleared the computer and reprogrammed it with all the updates and the car came alive. They said someone messed with the computer settings and had it all screwed up. Now she smokes the tires at the drop of the peddle.

This is what I was thinking too.
Did you click off the ASR (or traction control) on your test drive?

I always start my car, click off the ASR, put on the seat belt and then proceed.

My 96 LT1 TA wasn't too bad... snappy, but not as powerful as the LS1.
I miss the seats...they were so comfy.

My 02 TA LS6 auto is a dog too.
Won't burn em off at a light, transmission slips all over town.
Ran a 13.8 in the 1/4 with the tranny slipping each gear, and temp at 215.
Pretty crappy for only 4,800 miles.
Gets alot of looks at the car shows though.

If there's a LS6 in there you shouldn't have any problem burning up the tires even with 2.73's.

Yep, like crazy. When you smell the fluid, it smells like burnt GoKart Clutch.

    I'm betting on factory dud.
Later in life when I get more cash I'll tear into it and figure out whats going on.

I've got lots of grip, but not much slip. 3.42

    LS6 intake I assume?

Not the heads and cam from the LS6....because they never came in the T/A factory.

    LS6 Intake.
    LS6 Block.

    LS1 heads
Not sure about the cam. It's lopey and sounds like a mean SOB when the idle flakes out and it starts loping around 400rpm.
We were told it was "SPecial" by the dealer.... (DOnt they all say that?)

Youll find that a nonstalled auto will FEEL slower but from experience they are pretty much just as fast as an M6. Autos just dont give you that "in the seat" feeling as well as an m6, thats all. Watch the speedo though and your going to realize your hauling ass and covering some major ground. I felt the same way about my car after switching over from a manual car to my TA. Its even more evident to a passenger though, the driver tends to get used to the car real quick and you feel like its getting slower but its really not.

Agreed. It's all about perception. Although an M6 with a skilled driver should be alittle faster.

It is less of a jolt in the seat compared to an M6 in Drive. Doesn't mean it is slow at all...cause I really consider that bull thats just in peoples heads. (And I personally only think the reason manual cars get more HP is due to the slack someone can have shifting gears, and the gears are generally bigger.) To get the same feeling you would with an M6 from an auto you have to drop it all down to first, or another gear...so say you were in a race from a roll, just drop the tranny down to the appropriate gear, get next to the other runner and when you get on the gas then it will feel the same as an M6. The only reason your not feeling such a jolt to the seat I think is because the computer is doing all the work for you in drive and you don't have a clutch being pressed and depressed onto the flywheel and or pressure plate. When you drop it down into a gear I think something to do with the torque converter has to do with the extra jolt in an auto.
