    Trans am doesnt feel fast

When i test drove a Ws6 Trans am (A4) it didnt seem very fast at all.. It had headers, corsa exauhst, a lid and an intake on it. (i dont know what kind it was at a dealer) Well anyway i floored it and the car didnt get out of its own way really. It seemed like it was just as fast as a 3.8 firebird or camaro. I thought there was just something wrong with it, but then today my friend drove another T/A and he said the same thing. My dads 04 GTO would KILL the trans am from what it seemed like.

Now theese are my favorite cars im not bashing them at all, but im wondering if its normal for them to feel that slow? thanks for the input guys

Depends on how well the cars were maintained and when you got on it considering it's an A4. A non stalled A4 will feel dead between 45 and 65 mph if you go WOT because the TCC doesn't lock up quick enough. Also it depends on how well the car was maintained and if it was properly or improperly tuned. From the found of all the mods on the T/A, it sounds like something was a little funky

Ya, i knew it wasnt probably tuned or anything, but it seriously felt like the firebird.. as for WOT i got on it from about 10-15 and it felt slow, and im not sure what my friend did but he had the same experience.

How about if it were a 6 speed? would it feel much quicker?

Ya, my dads goat would have a kick and push you back in your seat, but the T/A kind of was just like accelerating, no kick or anything.

I've never considered my M6 slow. It's basically stock and will push you back in the seat. These cars advertise 13.5 in the 1/4. What's the '04 GTO advertise?

Are you sure? i was pretty sure the 04 ran mid-low 13s and the 05-06 ran high 12s...

EDIT: I found a chart comparing the 04 gto and 68 gto

    1968 GTO 2004 GTO
    Engine 400-cubic-inch V-8 346-cubic-inch V-8
    Horsepower 360 @ 5400 rpm (SAE gross) 350 @ 5200 rpm (SAE net)
    Torque 445 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm 365 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
    Transmission 4-speed manual 6-speed manual
    Curb weight, lb 3650 3725
    0-60 mph, se 6.5 5.3
    1/4 mile, sec @ mph 14.80 @ 96.00 13.62 @ 104.78
    Braking, 60-0, ft 150 120
    Base price $3228 $33,000 (est)

Damn it came out like shit but the 04 does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and runs 13.6.... im gonna go find the specs on the LS2 gtos

Something's definitely weird about that WS6 you drove...I've got a '00 firebird and a '02 WS6 and they are in entirely different worlds with regards to performance. My WS6 is an A4 and it throws me back in the seat when I step on it-it even threw me back before I started doing any mods....
About quarter times, I've seen several publications showing the stock WS6 at 13.3 seconds.....

My A4 TA 99 has alot of power and it doesnt feel sluggish especially when you step on it. It is well mainteined though and there are no Mods. When i went to test drive it back when i went to buy it i had the traction off and went to go do a U-turn real quick and i ended up peeling out like a mother and the car was thrown to the side. It was then that i learned that with great power comes great responsibility.....LOL

Anyway its got alot of power..atleast enough for me...but i dont race it....MAybe the Trans Am you test drove was really beat up.

It could have been beat up but idk, i find it hard to belive a car with 42k miles would be really screwed up.. i have no idea.. im definatley gonna go test drive some more though

well, my A4 if you catch it in the wrong spot will feel kinda slow, BUT from 10-15 It would for sure put you in your seat and more the likley spin the tires.

Oh definitely...if I go WOT from a dead stop, my wheels are not only spinning but it throws the car sideways...

Automatics are slow unless they have a stall. A stall will get rid of the dead spots.

I have a 2000 Ws6 a4 and it rips.....When it was stock it ripped, I pulled a 12.99 in the 1/4 when it was stock, I haven't taken it to the track yet with all my mods....Don't know if it's cause it only has 29,xxx miles on it or what, but I never had any problems with her.....Sounds like the car u took for a test drive was just beat the shit and back or the previous owner was stupid and never got it tuned....The GTO's are very fast cars and I know my car when it was stock hung right with them.....Like stated b4 it's all in how u maintain and treat the car, just sounds like u and ur buddy test drove 2 beat on t/a's or just weren't tuned right

All you need to do is cam/heads/headers and stall converter then HOLD ON. Don't forget some drag radials.
