I don't know. In my area, that truck is probablly worth close to $10,000.
Of course there are always better deals out there, but this trade offer seems pretty fair to me.

From a purely dollar point of view its worth the 10,000.

From a guy who loves F-bodies and hates trucks I think that is a bad deal. Your 98 with that of mileage is a keeper. Get a real expensive car cover and buy a junker truck to drive when it snows.

Thanks again for the input. Still going back and forth with the truck guy.Unfortunately, I do really want to sell it- in need of cash and was thinking it would be easier to sell the truck here than the bird. These rocky roads are hell even w/o the snow. Have a number of small rock chips on the front just from the last few weeks of being here and hardly driving at all. This just isn't the place for it and I don't want it to lose all it's value, cause it's a beautiful car. My second car finally died, so now this is my only car and don't have the cash to replace the dd. I'll keep posting ads. Want to put one on this site but still struggling with the photobucket. I this car and want it to have a great home with someone who will take care of it like I have.

I would also put it in Craigslist. I just sold our 96 T/A with 210,000 miles in less than 2 weeks thanks to craigslist!

If you need to sell it, trading for the truck is probably a good move. That kind of mileage is nothing on a well maintained LSX engine.

If you decide to buy a beater, look for a Jeep Cherokee or '96-'98 Grand Cherokee. They're cheap, reliable, easy to work on, and near unstoppable in the snow with good tires.

I have a '97 Grand Cherokee with 150k on it for a beater, and I love it in the winter. It always starts, and it always gets me where I need to go no matter what the weather.

Unless you get one with full time 4wd with the viscous coupler t/case. Ask me how I know....I have a 94 Grand Cherokee Limited. Its still an excellent 4wd, but selectable 50/50 split is way nicer when the snow get really bad.

Yeah, I have the 249 too, and the VC is pretty much shot. Funny enough, the worse the VC gets, the better it drives in the snow. It acts more like a part time case, so you don't get all that slippage between front and rear axles like you do with a properly functioning 249.

But yes, the 242 Selec-Trac is the best. I'm swapping one into mine eventually.

Ok- so I put one there earlier today and then hours later I'm doing a "internet search" for wheels to get an idea of the price- when the search page comes up, there in the middle are listed one after the other-my earlier ad and under it ...this thread(from a while back) which both are worded completely different-how weird...

Don't sell it! I know it's hard times, but you will regret it. You know you don't want to. I'm sorry what you're going through. times are hard for sure. Find another dd (beater truck perhaps) and get you an expensive cover for the TA. I respect either decision you make. Good luck man!
