    Tracking down my old bird...?

I'd like to track down my first car.....a 1989 Firebird Formula....how would I find out the current owner??? I know carfax doesn't show that information and I wouldn't think the DMV could tell me? So yeah..? I have the VIN # still.

The dmv will give you the info in most states you just have to fill out a form and pay a fee. Usually a couple dollars.

But sometimes they loose track of the car if someone moves out of state. It should tell you the next state it went to....and the process goes on. You'd be surprised how many of my old cars end up in the junk yard from people crashing them after I let them go.

a few years back I recieved a call from the high patrol asking me when i was going to pick up my 85' Camaro because they had found it abandoned on the side of the highway, AND i sold it years back!! I told them they better check there records cause I sold it a while ago, never heard from them since....funny thing was I was actually wonder how my old 3rd gen was doing at the time lol

Not sure. I used the vin on a truck to get the guys info so we could put a lein on it for not finishing payments on the paint job. I had write the vin. My buddy went down with it and paid a couple bucks and got all his info.
