I can't exactly remember the gains of an LS6 intake on a stockish engine. But I do remember feeling a difference. And the more you mod, the more your LS6 intake will help you.

Dyno wise its about ~15hp over stock
Just make sure if you buy one you make sure the bottom is flat, i've seen people try and sell corvette ls1 intakes off as ls6 ones since they have no EGR and look similar. Easiest way to tell is to make sure the bottom of the intake is flat.
Also for that swap you need the LS6 style coolant tubes. The LS1 style runs a tube across the bottom of the intake, The LS6 style runs across the front on the heads and has plugs for the rear.

Black/Screaming Yellow- 99 S/C TA WS6 & 04 Cobra
Don't port your stock one. Just buy a new one with a different intake like was suggested already. I have seen too many stock ones get self-ported or ported these so called masters and it makes the car virtually un-tuneable sometimes with addition of new mods such as heads/cam. What happens is with the stock components and mild set-up of bolt-ons its fine. Then add the Heads/cam/intake where there is a need for more air/fuel. That is where the problem arises from bad port jobs and idling problems that people associate with the cam and tuning but in reality it comes from the tb being half-assed ported and wierd things being drilled or ground out of the stocker. Plus people sometimes take the blade out and mess with that too. Big no no! It will never be the same after the blade has been drilled or modified.
The only thing you should ever do to your stocker IMHO is the bumpstop grind to ensure the blade is open all of the way at WOT. Other than that leave them alone and just buy an aftermarket one that is professionally made.1999 Trans Am WS6 Black - Forged 346, P1SC (8psi), TH-400, and 12 bolt(3.73's)
