BLK/BLK w/CGM Stripes- 2010 Camaro 2SS/M6
Tearing into it for the winter...
So after I blew the clutch, I was installing the gauges etc. while I was bored and I finally set up my garage at home and put the car on jackstands so I can pull the transmission out during the winter. Well what do you know! I see a patch of coolant on the garage floor when I crawl under there and turns out my head gasket is leaking. I knew this was gonna happen due to a mismatch on the head gasket and the head (damn you notch on the 853's, they'll be getting filled/welded and smoothed).
Anyway, clutch is on hold and the heads are coming off ... pics of the carnage ... lol
One head done, one more to go...
The Interior torn apart to install the gauges...
Some pics. of the Garage (still trying to get rid of a bunch of stuff that was stashed in there when we moved in):
My toolbox etc. pushed to the side for now until I rearrange everything
My work bench area with the requisite PC, radio, etc. ... lol
Home built rack to store my extra sets of wheels/etc.

looken good seems you have your hands full.
one question, to take the top of the dash off did you have to move the whole thing of just the upper piece?

Well the heads have everything in it by a local porting shop (port/polish/valves/etc.) so I'm just gonna get them checked and flowed while they're out. Probably switch the cam out (either MS3 or custom). It's already a 6.0ltr LQ9 block with forged internals and LS2/90mm intake setup.

so what are u doing exactly? Are u gonna buy a new block or just clean/stroke this one and build it up?

The block/internals are good (forged 6.0ltr LQ9) and was built only 2-3K miles ago, only needed the head gasket replaced after the notch in the head is filled so it doesn't leak again with the MLS gaskets.
yeah, that's the setup. It was barely used on that car before I swapped it into this car.

Well the only update for now is that I took out the old cam which was too big for a street driven M6 car (247/252 .577/.578 108lsa ... ummm, yeah) and in goes a MS3 113. Now waiting on infor about the head gaskets I need to use and it's button up time!!! Well, that and it still needs a new clutch (at least the friction plate).

DAMN I'VE BEEN DOING NOTHING!!!! lol
Latest update is that both heads have been R/R'ed with new gaskets to stop the leak. Sold the LS2 intake and bought a 90mm LSX; in the process of media blasting and re-painting it, maybe I should just powder coat the damn thing. White? and then paint the LSX lettering in red?
Now need to tear into the trans and get the clutch checked out/replaced.

If you want a new dash piece i bought some parts from here like my door speakers. Only place besides a dealer I have found some of these factory parts. They had new dash pads. There not a sponsor but I don't think any sponsors here have these factory parts.

Well, took the trans out today 'cos of the clutch issues and...
WTF, there's nothing wrong!
OH ... riiight... lol
Flywheel/pressure plate surfaces are still pretty good with no real high heat spots so I'm gonna throw it together after I touch them up with a surface prep wheel. I need to get thing on the road :bang:

Check out all the friction material on the ground, looks like a rats nest ... lol
This is the way she's been sitting for the last 4-5 moonths... *sigh
Also changed the Cam while I was putting new head gaskets in ... replaced my timing chain cover with a billet 2 piece unit when I put the engine together and that saved the day when I had to pull the cam 'cos I didn't have to take the front pulley/balancer out ... phew! 2-piece Timing cover FTW!!!
