Taking the spopiler off a WS6

Is there a way to take the rear spoiler off an 01 WS6?

ive seen a pic of one without it does not look that good but i would think that you would have to take off interior panel on the hatch and unscrew or unbolt, or drill it out

Pull the interior panel off (Its held in with push in clips. 2 10mm bolts under there
There are 3 10mm bolts on each side
Unplug the 3rd brake light wiring.
    Thats it.

Because I hate the look of the WS6 in fact I hate T/A's, lmao j/k never that. I am going to fully clean it and I am using a buffer and want to take it off so I can go over the "trunk" w/o the wing blocking me.

Ok -- you had me wondering. I will probably do the same thing at some point. I buffed our car a few weeks ago but had to skip the hatch for the same reason.

    Be careful....

I am not sure, but if they used that double sided tape on the spoiler of the T/A like they did on the spoiler on my '01 Grand Ma GT....I would leave it where it is and just use your hands to get into the tight spots.

Buff it with a good ole elbow grease! I would not remove the spoiler to just clean it, cause you might cause more damage that is not a cheap replacement! Your cutting compound and polish should be able to aply by hand!

I took mine off my '98 so I could buff some scratches out (a story for another day!) It wasn't bad to remove, and that car sure looked strange with it off! Then I could really work on the paint. Just be careful you don't scratch the paint when you take it off and on.

there are 8 bolts total holding the high-rise spolier on the car. 6 bolts (3) on each side are accessed by simply rasing the hatch as you can see them. the other (2) requires the removal of the large hatch trim piece.

upon removing the spoiler, it is not flush underneath. you will have to do some body work to smooth down and then patch/plug the bolt holes. once removed you will see what i am talking about. i am doing this to my '95 ta, as i am in the process of removing the center supports of the extra TA spoiler that i have for a cleaner and different look.

hope this help you out in some capacity.

It is really easy to remove. I did it with mine a long time ago, to clean it, just like you are going to do.

Just be careful with it. Taking it off and on. Also where you place it when it's off. I took mine inside and laid it on my bed.
