    Tail light fix (in progress)

Next time I think I might just buy a new one.

Anyways, I had your classic dark tinted rear tail light. Passenger side.
I knew the previous owner sealed the outside edge along the top with silicone. What I didn't know was that he tried to take it apart before but gave up when he broke part of it.
Anyways it's a real pain to heat it up and pry it loose even with my new harbor freight 9$ heat gun
I've still got a lil more to remove and clean up before I polish paint and reassemble, but most of the hard work is finished.
I just wanted to share with all in anticipation of spring!

    Here's a few pics...

Awesome job man. I did a write up for this a while back. Hope it comes out good! I suggest using a generous ammount of silicone when sealing it back up....especially on the end (near the back up light).

Something else I just thought of.....What do your bulb sockets look like? You know...where they twist into the tail light? If they are cracked or weathered too badly, they might leak and allow water back into the housing. I'm not sure if water can get back behind the tail light, but I ended up replacing mine shortly after I refinished my tail light.

Thanks man! I was just reviewing your thread before I continue on tomorrow night. I'll definitely look into replacing the socket gaskets.

I was also reading about the lit up filler panel mod...very tempting.

Looks great man! I just got a new taillight and drilled holes on the bottom so the moisture could escape I never thought it was repairable
