    Swappin A/c for Stereo

Okay I've seen multiple early 4th gen's with the stereo on the bottom and the a/c up top on the center console, the interior should be almost exactly the same. Anyone know of how they did it? i was thinkin of buying a flip out dvd stereo and it'd work better with the controls behind the screen versus the vents

well, if you're really technical, you can install a car pc like they did in this Trans Am :

it looks cool, though it's probably nothing like you want.

Should be able to take out the bolts on HVAC unit and move it up and move the stereo down. I dont know about wire length or anything. Should be able just to flip the trim ring. Mounting holes and wire length would be the main concern.

yep, Im not a fan of the glove compartment solution either. I think the computer control of the HVAC has been done - but from what Ive seen it is a pain since there are three different types of controls(vacuum, cable, and electric) - I recall reading it in that thread somewhere(but thread is 43 pages long)

I tried moving the HVAC last night and the cable for the AC/Heat door is entirely too short.... but it works!

if i were to go through the trouble, i'd put a double din 7' in there. making it look stock would make it look like your car was nicer and more expensive to begin with imo.

I have also had my eye on a xo vision radio. costs about $500 and comes with built in navi, bluetooth, 2 sd readers (1 map, 1 songs) and anything else you could need besides an ipod linkup. its a more unknown brand but walmart carries them so if it breaks in a couple years or so, just return it because walmart takes back just about anything.

yeah thanks guys thats exactly what i was lookin for. except alot of those are photoshopped. i know the hvac can be moved now that i took a closer look but are there any trim pieces to accomadate bigger screens but still keep the stock look? personally i'd rather drop some extra dough and get a touchscreen that doesn't flip out with all the amenities. i wanna keep the look as stock as possible

^ oh cool you're from va too. ya on another computer i have a bookmark of a guy that modified it himself on a firebird (camaros seem to be different). it actually doesn't look hard at all and you could get a second radio trim for $10-15 incase you mess up or give up. I'll post the link in an hour or so.

    EDIT: here's the link.

    http://curioustech.home.insightbb.com/

that was for a carputer screen but the concept's the same.
