Suggestions Please
Hey everyone. I've always wanted to own a firebird and the time is finally coming haha. I'm looking into a getting a 6 spd WS6, but I have a couple questions. I figure I could pick up a WS6 for 10k or less and use the extra cash for the new motor (10k for the car+5k for the motor and around 1500 for the install).
How bad is the ls6 swap and what is involved?
Can the stock transmission/drivetrain handle it?
What do you guys think? Good idea or bad

ls6 swap - I do not think it would be worth it unless you got it real cheap, not much difference ls1 to ls6

Red- 1998 Camaro SS
If the LS1 is in good shape you could take the 5000 and do a head and cam package with a tune and the LS1 would make more power then a stock LS6.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
i dont know if i agree with the CAI and the fact that most people can still run the same rocker arms ..its the springs that must/high suggested to be changed with any cam change...the rockers will last and are adequate for the most part..but that all depends on the radicalness of the cam as you know.
p.s also worth noting - the 10 bolt would need to be swapped since it would only be a matter of time before the t-56 destroys the 10 bolt....and the fact that he will probably need to get a new shifter so on a case of misshift ect. he doesnt screw his forks

Would suggest Pushrods here also, most cams make their power until a little above 6,000 RPM, the stock pushrods are prone to bending above the factory rev limiter.
On a side note, Pontiac was having some probs with flattened camshafts, bent pushrods, broken rockers, etc... but only in 6 spd cars... the problem was determined by a service manager who took a car home one weekend, and whilst racing it, he accidently shifted from 2nd back to 1st instead of 3rd... centrifical force overrevved the engine and caused the valve train to thrash...

depending on the miles on the car you're getting, save a little more and do a turbo kit or SC
