did you read the link I posted earlier? The TA in that article was suppose to be the 285 rated lt1. When they figured in the 20% drivetrain loss it was actually 275 at the motor ten horses less than the factory rating. The stock 98 LS1 was actually 42 horses over the factory rating of 305hp at the motor.

LOL I don't think 10-30HP will make a big difference!!

I seen a Lt1 z28 Camaro on Passtime the other night run High 9's. He was running a Vortec supercharger pushing 15psi. Was a Nice setup. He nearly crashed 3 times trying to hook up.

bottom line, the ls1 runs about .5 seconds faster than the lt1 in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile

Procharge or turbo charged is the way to go :} Most bang for the buck in the end.

Car club here in St. Louis held a dino day this past Sunday. First time I have seen it done. Ran my ws-6 (bone stock) and came out with 332.6 and 352.6 torque. They said thats the highest they had seen a stocker go. I was happy.

One of my best friends had an anniversary SS, bone stock, dynoed 350 RWHP and ran 12.7s. Factory freak car and he is a great driver to boot, but 332 isn't impossible on a stock LS1.

I bought the car with 8000 on the clock. The guy didn't seem like he would be one to have done any mods, let alone not say anything about it. This is a post on the local board from the guy running the cars on the dino. His name is Chad, and works at Red Line in Festus, MO.

he definately has the record for the highest bone stock 02 LS that i know of..back to back high numbers. 19K miles. stock lid and everything!
It was nice meeting you this morning dave

96 lt4 "330" this one was underrated because people have dyno'd with stock ones 320whp

one flaw of the lt1 design in a sports car is the cam grind. the cam grind does not have enough lift or overlap for a lightweight sports car. the lt4 had a better cam design, but the only way to take advantage of the heads that come on it is with a fairly aggressive cam with 1.6rr's or if you have lower goals 1.65rr's with better springs. mine puts out around 360whp and I don't have a cam yet. I ported my heads a bit and put oversized valves in it, but i haven't done a cam yet.

i thought i heard that they at one point ran out of our ls1 fbody engines and were putting in the better corvette engines to keep up with demand for a month or 2? maybe those that have 330+ rwhp are the ones with that better engine...

they were putting some ls2's in there i believe, however, i believe the numbers were supposed to be rated the same because all the internals were the same, something along those lines, i could be wrong though
