Solstice Name Change

I often wondered why Pontiac didn't name the Solstice a Firebird. Sure, it's not a muscle car like from previous generations, but I think that it would have sold a bit more just because of the name. It's a very sexy car that I think people would have been interested in it, maybe even guys would like it if they added some real power to the car. Manufactures always re-brand cars, try to appeal to different audiences, I personally wouldn't have mind if they would have introduced the Solstice as the Firebird, and maybe had a Firehawk version. I'm not saying that changing of the name would have saved Pontaic, just saying, I think it may have helped them a bit with sales. What do you guys think? Keep in mind that the 4th generation Firebird looks very much like a chicks car (although amazingly the Trans Am WS6 is a beast).

Because it's not a firebird and has nothing in common with past firebirds other than being rwd

Yeah no good. First off they killed the Firebird name when they killed the model.

Second, would make no sense to anybody other than idiots at GM.

The V6 Firebird, come on, it looks like a chicks car. But, that's kinda what I am talking about. When Pontiac knew they were going to release the Solstice, I wonder if they would have branded the car a Firebird, not Solstice, would the car have been more successful. Market the Firebird name to female buyers much like the Solstice is, but the Firebird name is a known brand and has a sporty reputation. Yeah, it would have probably pissed off some hardcore muscle car fans, but I don't the overall masses care about V8s, especially with how the gas prices are inconsistent right now. Similar to how, the Thunderbird was phase out, then Ford brought back a vintage looking T-bird. Same concept, but instead they bring out the just the Firebird name, not Formula, Trans Am, or WS6.

NOT worthy of the firebird name, hands down, but the performance version is much more worthy of the firehawk name before the 4dr G8 is. but i'm baised to 4dr performance cars, like the charger and g8, just stupid to me

if you have never rode in one you would know why. Nothing like any trans am I have been in.

Now you get the saturn Sky, put ANY lsx engine in it... do some tiny body mods, and some flip up headlights and we may have a deal...

That has to be a chicks car because it's not meant for men. Big guys atleast... Meaning men over 5ft tall.

I sat in one at the dealership and the winshield came up to like my chin... I was like wtf. I would've looked like one of those guys who drive the little cars in the parade....

seriously though...why didnt gm do this in the first place with the saturn sky?????if they would just have some balls and make some potent sports cars maybe they would still be in business instead of flushing themselves down the toilet
