Don't do it. By the time you buy the engine, the transmission, hydraulic clutch, and all the other things you need for the conversion it just isn't worth it. Also the 6cyl rearends aren't positraction.

Just seems like a lot of time and money when you can sell your bird and pick up an ls1 car for $3,000-$5,000 more.

Thats what I did, I used to have a 98 6cyl Camaro. So glad I traded it in.

just get an LT or LS1 the engine swap is hard to do especially since motor mounts are different and the engine bay is so compact. I've done an engine swap on a 85 camaro that had a v6 i put a 350 in it and that even was pretty difficult. atleast for me.

Every little bit helps, most gains are seem through head, intake, cam work with the supporting mods behind them like exhaust and gears.

Then there is the other goodies like forced induction and Nitrous.

An engine swap is all about how much effort you want to put into it. The cars will built for both engines. The easies way to one, if you want, is to find a lift and drop the front K member out. That will give you all room in the world. The Tranny should bolt right up no issue..

Its all in the planing and making sure you have all the little stuff looked after.
