My car doesn't have traction control, but when I start the car a TSC light briefly comes on. They build all the cars the same and the lights are only functional when the car actually has that option.

the skip shift is only meant for the m6's......it doesnt allow you to shift into 2nd gear until u reach a certian rpm and if u try to shift the computer forces you to shift into 4th gear.....pontiacs reasoning?......to make it a more fuel effiecient car?!!?!?!?!? who buys an ls1 for gas mileage?!?!?!? if ur worried bout gas mileage buy a saturn

I believe they did it so people wouldn't have to pay the additional gas guzzling tax when they purchased the vehicle new

Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
Thats partly correct GM did it to boost there CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) requirement, and all M6 cars from `94 up F-bodies have this feature along with a 3.42 axle.
The `93 F-bodies had 2 different gearboxes one for 3.23 geared cars(close ratio) and one for 2.73 geared cars(wide ratio)Craig

Pewter- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6
Skip shift was the first thing i disabled on my car. Who the hell buys a M6 to skip gears? There is nothing better then rowing through the gears.

Ha, ha ... I was just trying to note the GM EPA rating.... I've gotten 27.5mpg
by very carefully going down Hwy 5 to LA. I have 3.73 on my MT6.
That's including Grapevine. On HWY 5 between Sac and the base of Grapevine I was able to record 29.3 I was hoping to break 30mpg. I bet if I put my stock rires on there and aired them up I would have too.

Yeah mine was eliminated by the previous owner but the light still comes on @ like 1700RPMs. How the were you expected to shift into 4th like that? It would flog it like crazy. Am I missin somethin here or is that design really that stupid?

The car has plenty of torque .... no problem. If you jumped on it the gate would open and you could go 1,2,3,4 ..... If you crawled away from a stop light it would help you by not shifing as much. I use that light as a gauge now. If I see it and I'm trying to save gas or shifting I go 1-4 or 1-3 if I think I might need to power. It's better that way imo.
I actually don't need it knowing I can go 1-4 at almost anytime .... try it anything over 20mph and your golden going into 4th. Just don't expect to have any pick up after going to 4th. Great for leaving the light in 1st up to 35-40mph and dropping it into 4th and cruisin' in town.

I think you mean bog ... Yes, if you backed off the gas yes or took your sweet time shifting ... that's right. But, if you were rolling on and got it up to 20-25mph and it never dropped below that you shouldn't have a problem. Unless of course you car is out of tune etc....

You'll see it's kinda nice down the road. Now I've got to cruise..............
It's so funny because I do a 1-4th shift and some guy thinks I'm racing them when I'm a little more than idling off. It's so funny ... most of the time it's just a cut when you drop it into forth dropping those revs because your not even trying to race. But, he's giving it all he's got. LOL !!!
It's a good way to lose those idiots by letting them go on up the road for their ticket.
BTW - BlueBomber .... nice car !!!!
