    Six speed or no...

I am in the process of buying a TA. I was going for a ws6, but I will change too much to spend the extra money. I am contemplating supercharging, but some sort of power adder will be used. But should I go six speed, or go with the automatic? I drive manual all the time, and drive it well.http://www.ls1.com/forums/images/smilies/seesaw.gif

Get the manual. I had a '98 AT Trans Am, regretted it, sold it for the '00 WS6 I have now, much happier. Autos are good for consistency at the track, if you only live at the track. Manual is much, much more fun for driving.

BTW nhraformula, manly men get six speeds. They like to control, not be controlled LOL.

A street car is much more fun with a 6 speed. Autos are suppose to be good for the track but I think a good driver with a 6 can still beat an auto provided both cars are stock. Most autos run at the track arent stock.

both are great in their own way... but I would stick with an M6 if going forced induction and don't care about having the fastest ETs

If the power is the same....a stalled auto will get the 6 speed just about everytime. Be different and don't jump on the M6 band wagon. I'm sure I'll get way flamed for saying that....but I don't give a shit.

It's all personal preference. Drive what you like. I like the M6 myself.

IF you like driving manual then you should get it.

If you wanna make a badass low ET strip car, get an Auto.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. Personally, if I was building JUST a track car, I'd go with a built automatic tranny, however for a street car it would have to be a 6 speed.

I love my Corvette (A4) and it's GREAT at stoplight races, however the feel of the SS (M6) on the highway rowing through the gears is much more fun.

auto are not only good at the track but are deadly in the street. I love to see stick shift comming! first if a stick live through the hole shot, you cant out shift a computer. Around here we love nitrous and automatics

That might be true, but nitrous and stalls aside, I would put my stock M6 against a stock auto any day of the week. If you know how to shift it, you won't get beat.
