Silver- 2002 Trans Am WS6
Should I trade my 09 Galant for 02 Trans Am WS6?
The Galant has 31,000 miles and the TA has 55,000. I know gas with be a big jump up. But if this TA is in great condition is it worth it? Being ten years old, things will start to wear more before the Galant I imagine...

Well an 02 WS6 with low miles is probably worth 14-15k and is a hell of lot cooler than any Mitsu ever made.
It would be a no brainer to me,but its your deal so you need to make that decision on your own.2010 Camaro SIM 2SS/RS A6

BTW my car had 120,000 miles when I picked it up and it now has 130,000 and about 250-300 drag strip passes in the last 2yrs.
If you keep up the maintanence not much will break especially if your not hard on it.

Yes that was my major concern, just the upkeep since it is much older

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A w/ mods, 00 FBVert
I have both, 08 Galant (my DD) & a 98' TA.
If you have a lot of short inner city trips gas for the TA is going to kill you vs the galant. The galant also has more room for passengers & stuff.
I'm not trying to talk you out of a great car, just giving you my experience between the two.
If I was single this would be a no brainer!!

Our cars have a few quirks, but like with any vehicle preventative maintenance goes a long way. Lots of guys on here are running cars well north of 100,000 miles and are still making passes at the track with them. The engines are very durable and have a reputation for going the distance. The most common quirks include power windows, door panels, headlight doors, and VATS -- all of which are easily remedied. Mechanically, GM cheaped out on the rear and the power steering cooler can cause issues if it fails.
Good luck!

ummm does a bear shit in the woods? would a preist pass up touching a little boy? is rossie o'donnel gay? i think you get the picture....if your single be a man haha snag the trans am. but if you are concerned about gas, how many groceries you can store in the trunk, or overall comfortability...then stick with your galant.

Get the TA already, you'll appreciate that decision within the firs 5 minutes of driving it.

Just to do a numbers check, I looked at Kelly Blue Book for trade-in on your car assuming it is a fairly base Galant and with average condition it is worth about $8,200. A similar car to the TA you describe (year, mileage, WS6) is actually selling for around $10,000 on the ebay completed listings. The numbers say you should make the trade!

I figured it was stock with that mileage, it looks like an A/F gauge, oil and water temp gauges.
The factory gauges are crap for accuracey a lot of people go aftermarket for piece of mind.
Does it have headers? any other noticeable mods?
How is the oil pressure at start up? after its warm? at idle?

Yea that's what they read. They work good. are they easy to repair if they don't?
I'm honestly not too sure about if their are mods, ill upload a pic of under the hood.
Oil pressure hangs between 40-50

40-50 at warm idle is very good.
Its hard to tell if there are headers,we need a close up view near the valve covers and below.
That car looks very clean and would be a good trade.

You are asking if you should acquire a TransAm on a LS1 forum. What exactly did you think people were going to tell you?

thats like walking into a bar asking the bartender if you should have water or an alcoholic beverage.... either way you will get it figured out...and as for the rust...that is on a common place. exhaust pipes are not your worries...if you seeing it growing like a son of a gun on the actual sheet metal of the underside and just literally everywhere you walk away from that, unless you are in for a long project....trust me i know...i use to have a '89 pontiac firebird formula that i acquired with 195k miles....ill tell you what looks like rust.
