    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

explain trouble? loosening the nut by hand is pretty hard to do. I took mine (with the spring compressors installed) to a shop so they could bust them apart with air tools.

well, i put the spring compressors on the spring and started cranking on the compressor bolts. i kept cranking and cranking and cranking, but it just wouldn't bust apart. i cranked it so far that the compressor bolts started bending. could rust be the problem? the previous owner didn't take care of the car. you wouldn't believe how bad this thing is rusted underneath. it's obvious that they drove it on snow and salt roads all the time.

the upper shock mount, shock bumper and shock cup are all stuck together on the top of the shock. do you think maybe squirting some machine oil and whoopin it with a hammer might do it? i have bought some lowering springs that i want to put on.

I've personally never done the front springs yet, but isn't there some spray out there that you can use to help loosen bolts?

well, you should see the underside of this car. redicules. i'm probably going to end up spraying it with WD40 and beating the crap out of it with a rubber mallet.

That is nothing. Helped a friend install his BMR springs, and we ended up having a shop torch the strut boot to get it loose.
Ended up having to replace the entire shock and tower boot. Luckily I found someone local with a used shock we could use.

compress the spring from the control arm with a jack the put the compressor on as tight as possible keep the top bolted in and take out the bottom nut then drop the jack slowly and that son of a bitch is out!! we dropped mine in an hour! the hardest part was disconnecting the bracket holding the control arm in (sorry dont know what its called off hand). smack that bitch with the hammer after taking the nut off

I took mine out and had a shop with a wall mounted spring compressor seperate the assembly. It still took us 3 hrs at the shop to get both sets apart PITA.
