Roof panel replacement
Anyone replace the rear roof panel (sail panel) on a t-top car?

John,
This is SUCH a well documented issue and i am going to have to
do it to my freshly imported 2002 WS6!
Just type "Sail panel bubbles" into the search box and have a good read.
From '93 up to '98 for a replacement panel from a donor car or 6le version and
prepare to have fun....

1st, I heard you cant remove them without breaken them and 2nd the body shop labor computers are telling them the front windshield is required to be removed. There is a T-top panel that connects front and back. I saw a picture of the disassembly.

I have never heard of the front screen having to come out... Just never....!!!
You are right in that there is a panel running the length of the T top
divider but it just unfastens to reveal the sheetmetal below.
I surely hope you can remove them without breaking them as i
have located an LT1 car (previous to glue issue) which i am going to
hack up like the green one in this thread:

I'm sure with care it is possible and i aim to fully document every step
of my roof to be able to pass on any hints or pitfalls to look out for!

From all the pictured I have seen the glue (butyl) looks like it goes around the perimeter. How does the panel bubble in the middle?

John,
As Scott said .... it is indeed bleed through but as to your point about the middle
then there are three individual blobs spaced evenly to hold the center down.
As shown on the green one in the link above...

Bubble
I have a bubble on the side, middle. Does not look like a bloob of glue is anywhere near that. In that picture it looks like the glue is butyl, what did they use in 99-02? I think if they (my body shop) used a water born product they would not have had they much of a problem. After 2 months the car still stinks of thinners and such.
