    removing the grille thingy

when you people talk about removing the little ram air grille. do you mean the plastic thing that is held in by TQ's screws..or do you mean the thing that's behind it..and i'm guessing you have to drill those little heads off? is reinstalling it difficult?

yep, they are talking about the baffle behind the grills.. you just drill out the rivets and take it off... if you get a rivet gun then it would be very simple to put back.. other than that you would prolly just use short bolts w/ nuts to hold it.... should be too hard.

that's what made me think of doing it...i mainly thought it looked better and thought it might give a few horsesy but me having to drive it everyday I don't want to risk it ...living in oklahoma all that red dirt and crap could ruin that filter fast

There's got to be some gain albeit minimal...at least with a completely sealed box at high speeds.

AFAIK the baffle is just to keep water out of the airbox... it won't help much at all for dust in the air.... so if you don't drive in the rain then take it off

If you're gonna take it off, you'll find out that you'll make it perminant. It's a pain in the ass to wiggle the little deflectors out of the back of the airbox area. I used to drive in the rain with it and never got water in there, and no real noticable gain, but I put LED's in there.

now im not a fan of doing anything other than performance gains..but that just looks badass I have this urge to put a purge kit in that area so I could go steam some rice on the weekend ..not sure how much that would cost. anyone have experience with doing that

cops dont mess with them being red? there is lots of rice around here with lots of different colors on there blinkers and leds on the hood that get pulled over for so im told. i know its different in different areas as we are blessed here cause you can run limo tint we have no emmisions or yearly inspections so you can be really loud and not get pulled over but i know thats cause its not densly populated but man the minute you put the wrong color other than yellow or red on your car your getting a ticket so ive been reluctant and undecided as to whatcolor to go with.

as far as I know in oklahoma you can't have red blue or yellow on the street but you can have them on in neighborhoods parking lots etc still think the purge kit would be cool and in oklahoma we don't care about emissions or how shitty your car is...its all legal

I took the Plastic Grilles and the Baffles out of mine, and I think it looks bad ass, looking down the nostrils and seeing the filter

Also, if you're worried about water, just get a K&N Filter (http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/knrepfil19ca.html)...When I'm driving in the rain (not a downpour, but steady rain) the filter gets a little damp, but nothing too bad...
