    Rear differential ticking

I went to go look at the trans am and there is a slight ticking on the rear of the car don't know wether it's the brakes or I heard about the rear differential? How can I tell? Is it expensive? Haven't totally bought it yet, went to see a black trans am that is automatic but its black (my favorite color) and it seems to make the same sound? Dealer said they would take a look at it and fix it, what do you guys think?

if it is in the brakes you can apply slight brake pedal pressure and the noise should stop, if it is in diff. could be several different things.broken ring or pinion gear.side bearings or wheel bearings

got the same problem in my car.. all i did was have the rear checke out and cleaned out.. put the rear oil in and it was a lot quieter. after about a week the noise was back to normal. im thinking its the rear so iv been looking for ring and pinions. just need to find the right person to do it. for now im just waiting for something else to happen with it before i do anything. a whole new rear is about 2g. and since ur gramps is a mechanic ur lucky.. u can find some1 real good to do it. putting in a whole rear isnt as hard as messing with the insides.. by the way, if you do need a new rear aor pinions, go with the best, 4 10s
