How much affect does elevation have at 60' times? I wouldn't think much. Just asking because the OP's 60' times are slllloooooow, even for street tires.

That's why I said driver mod woulda pulled better, this was my first time ever so I had some horrible launches. You'll see when I post the video.

My virgin run is quite possibly my worst run. I dropped the clutch right outta the gate but I was also nervous and the car in the other lane didn't help. He ran a 9.55 lol

Haha yeah I know what you mean by driver mod for sure. I know I've had my fair share of driver errors at the track, none of which I will care to mention

I don't mind being honest especially since I have had so much contoversy in my posts lol. I suck from a digg but this was my first time. Maybe I'll do better next time... Who knows? I feel like if I could get the launch down I could run better.

Rule of thumb I believe is for every tenth you cut off your 60', it adds up to about two tenths reduction in your 1/4 mile time.

Typically people with street tires launch their M6 at about 2500-3000K, slipping the clutch out, not dumping it.

My best 60' was 2.1 and the time was 14.0
I went real easy on my rear because I hear they're fragile. I launched anywhere from 1700-2000rpm

you would be in the low 13s or high 12s with those numbers here in houston.

Yea I understand that, I'm not claiming to be the fastest trans am in the world or nothing like that just pointing out the numbers I'm getting outta my little LS1. All I got is exhaust, before that all I had in it was $150 bucks in parts. Just happy about my budget build is all I'm emphasizing.

It can play a small role. Need the power to get lower short times with traction.
On street tires though...it plays little or no role.

And I will not be claiming any times I have not gotten a slip for. Long debates have had over why I go 11.90 and dyno 531. Love the internets.

Ya you guys are at almost identical elevations that I'm at now. Luckily for us the dragstrip is an hour and a half down the mountain at 1200 feet elevation
But it plays havic on tuning though. Racing down there but driving the car 99% of the time up here requires 2 different tunes, or it's pig rich up here. Factor in the heat and it's worse.

I'm like you, I don't like to post or claim any corrected times, but it is an assential part of racing. Especially where I am concerned, since I do most all of my tuning at the track. I need those DA numbers and corrections so I know where and what to change when tuning a car. Without them I wouldn't know if I'm going backwards or forwards with changes,,,since the DA is all over the place at various times of the year your ET's and MPH's can play with your head. The correction factor puts everything on an even playing field no matter what the weather is,,,,hard to tune accurately without it.

Didn't mean to seem like I was hatin....just tryin to give ya an idea of what you could expect at lower elevation. On a sticky run, I'm sure you could break into the 12s..

Lol fine. Exhaust and air box are my mods....
I might get a cam later this summer but h/c/i are the main goals next year. Unless I go supercharged

Yea well I'm not too sure all together I just love the whine. I should be looking at rear ends right now but the hunt for power is in my head

Be smart like I was...build first..then add power later. Unless you like the adrenaline of maybe having your rear end blow up 3/4 of the way down the track going 80-90MPH
    It's on jackstands.
