I remember hearing once that there were a few dealerships that added the hoods to sell the base TA's. It is not factory but I think thats where the WS7 idea came from.

The hood you bought....I dont think Ive ever seen one that you had to cut the openings out yourself. Even if you cut it out nice what would you use for screen on it??
    It comes with screens

I have a aftermarket WS6 hood I bought from certifit painted and removed all the baffle veal it had so it would work with my Volant CAI. You just look through the screens and see the 2 filters and the rubber gasket seats against the hood. Added some red leds for a little something different. I'm fine with the base TA since mine came with the A4 and 3.23 performance rear. Since I already swapped the hood to a WS6 style and have full suspension mods so it cost me less to buy the car just to throw out parts I would have paid extra for but I would have paid extra when it was bought in 98 if they would thrown a WS6 hood on it.

That'll probably be me when I'm 80. You gotta remember, he was about 40 in the late 60s, maybe he had lots of muscle cars then.

OP, I've sealed my airbox with some foam adhesive stuff I found at a big home improvement store, it stayed on for 3 years or so. Along the bottom side, I put on 1/2" heater hose and put a few small screws thru it. It acts like a squeege when the hood shuts, seals pretty good.
