I think its more cosmetic mod than anything. Go ahead buy the hood and tell those people they were wrong it added 100 more horses at the wheels.

I didn't say that to knock on you. It was more towards to those people who said it added 25 hp just putting a hood with two holes on the front.

Where are you getting this source? RKsports? It does not add 25 hp. The lid would probably add more hp than a WS6 hood. Wait I just realized something... Are we talking ricer talk? If it is well, yeah, I get it. WS6 hood will add 25 hp along with the stickers and the wing and ground effects.

At 100mph the "ram air" from these hoods produce 1psi... 1psi='s ~10hp +/-2

Are these calculations from a theory or has it been proven?
Still sounds like a ricer talk to me. It reminds me of those rear bumpers that ricers have with holes across on them because they think it creates less drag on their car=faster and more MPH on their ETs.

no theory, i've seen pleanty of dyno sheets showing on average a 10-12rwhp difference between ram air and non ram air models

    lol, ricer bumpers

Stock dyno sheets? You do know that stock WS6 models have a freer flowing exhaust as compared to non-WS6 models right? That is where the gains come from, NOT ram air. Shit how does ram air come into effect on a non moving car on a dyno.......with its hood up?

Guy, calm down. I don't know how they tested the ram-air, maybe a big fan, who knows, thats just what the dyno sheets show.

Got a good point. The only "ram-air" i've seen on a dyno, air is going under the car when the fan is blowing infront of the car.

Even with a big fan, you could only simulate certain amount of speed of air unless you're in wind tunnel. They did a show of that one time... BMW in a wind tunnel/dyno machine.

Look, if you have a "Ram Air' setup on your car, and you seal your airbox to your hood, you are getting a really good CAI kit. Maybe, MAYBE at highway speeds of 80+ you will see some benefit, but in all reality it is for appearance only and if you seal it you introduce cooler fresher air into the engine.

The WS6 gains claimed from Pontiac, 320 hp vs. 305 hp, are all in the fine print. 1 of the upgrades is a "Freer flowing exhaust" 2.75 inch vs. 2.5 inch I believe, which is where the actual gains come from, not from the Ram Air hood.

Ram air and regular T/A's shouldn't show any difference on the dyno. If there is a difference, it isn't the hood and airbox.
In other words...take a regular T/A and dyno it. Toss on the WS.6 hood and airbox. Dyno again. Should be the same for both pulls, or at least close. Make sure both pulls are with the motor the same temp.
The LS1 tends to make a little more power after 2-3 pulls on the dyno.

Ram Air T/A's have been known to run a slighty faster ET because of the more effective cold air intake known as the hood.

we just discussed this on this thread:

    http://ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22150

I'd say it isn't functional. The Free Ram Air mod is more functional and is free. Get it for looks if you want, not for functionality. And that's from a WS6 owner.

Cold air intake is better and runs more Hp but you only get it about 80MPH as stated. Probably only 10HP at most. Yes i will get bashed on this site but its common. The car gets cold air as like a cold air intake and better breathing gets more HP but very little. As for the looks it awesome compared to the stock hood
    . Okay bash away
