I really don't notice much delay in mine. I mash the pedal and it picks the gear and moves along.

It's really not an issue for me. If I lost a race from a roll just because my transmission took that split second to find a gear,,,,then thats a pretty damn close race anyway. It still finds the proper gear faster than a 6 speed driver does 9 times out of 10. I found that out first hand last night in my wifes 6speed car It's not easy to come out of sixth and find 3rd,,,,or even second which is what I needed in this case. By then the mustang already had jumped ahead,,,I had to real him back in. Stupid 6speed,,,,,,has too many gates

I leave mine in 4th 100% of the time. Just cruising around anyway, and 4th gear occurs at 30 something mph at light throttle,,,and my converter locks up at 37 mph at light throttle. Keeps my mileage at bay....

If I come along someone that wants to play I just mash the pedal,,,it picks the gear itself. Although I've tailored it to my liking in the tune,,,,so I don't touch the shifter at all. Thats the whole advantage of having an auto..

Tell ya what Shady, I'll try it some time. I'll just leave it in 3rd and see what happens. I'm not going to throw to any other gear though.

you dont need to. 3 on the selector only refers to the fact that you have 1-3 ..it eliminates 4th all together.

Well, what if I want 4th? I've almost had my ass kicked by an S2000 and I needed 4th. Caught up with him about 200ft and blew by him in 4th. It was a close race as those S2000s have one hell of a jump. If I didn't have 4th, he would have kicked my ass and I would have looked like an ass.

I don't understand, what's wrong with 4th then? Isn't that the same thing as third, but no shifting from 3rd to 4th when you need to get passed 135 on 3.23s

I'll go with Shady. I'll give it a try and let you know. 135 MPFH is just fine.

Will the car run harder if you use 3rd instead of 4th?

No, it will run the same. I have been down the track with shifter in 3rd and in overdrive,,,made no difference in the cars ET or MPH.
Once you have the upshift and downshift points tailored where you want them with a custom tune, There will be no need to do anything manually at all.

That's what I thought, so why are you guys talking about putting the car in 3rd, you claim it will lower your ET a full second milkman? lol

not a full second..all i am saying is that the 3 uses all of the clutch packs..1,2 and 4 dont. Are your passes jones that you are speaking of ..with all of your tunning and stall?

Jones, did you test 3rd then 4th before you had tuning? If not, then it makes more sense.

Then again, Shady, how does the car run better when it's in 3rd instead of 4th, like embellish a lil please.
