straight to 3...going to 2 is pointless ....three eliminates OD and uses all the clutch packs when shifting...2 is technically only for towing ect.

just put it in 3rd..simply as that..the 4l60e's are designed to be shifted manually like that..keep it in third and you will get better times.

it feels faster when i down shift when rolling. and it feels it has more torque when i shift from one from a dig.

thats what we all thought..but its true...but my tranny holds second too long at high rpm so when i manual shift it i shift to third early to compensate for the delay...

its the same gears..there is no more torque...your experiencing a downshift..if you throw it into third from a dig..it will perform/give out just as much power as shifting from 1-2-3.

usually how we do it down here is you slam it after the second honk..that way by the third one you are already in gear and taking off like you would be in a manual by the time the third honk hits

If you run faster manually, then you need a tune.

The computer SHOULD do your shifting for you. Down and up.

of course it FEELS like it, your concentrating on something else instead of how fast your going, no more TQ... thats silly.

weird...you want to have it in 3rd ALL THE TIME when you race....3rd gear will pull until 135mph..with 3.23s then you'd need to shift it into OD for fourth. 3rd uses al the clutch packs

my car runs the same if i am od or 3rd, but in a roll race it is faster if i down shift, so my rpm's are up for the take off
