    Question for you bird guys...

Got a friend looking at a 97 or older firebird, he says its a formula? has an lt1. I dont know very much about firebirds, but he says its not a trans am...can anyone tell me whats special about a formula...he says its pushing 350hp?

A formula is basically a firebird with a v8 in it. A trans am is a formula + extra options. Unless that car is modded an LT1 does not push 350hp. LS1s push that at the flywheel(I think) and the LS1s are a lot better than the LT1s

Formula has the base V6 Firebird body, but has the same V8 drivetrain as the T/A. Basically all the go, without the show. This is a good option for someone looking for a 'sleeper', because at first glance they look exactly like the V6. I have one, and everyone is surprised when I tell them it has a V8.

As far as the 350hp, it must be modded to have that. The most LT1 Formulas were factory rated at was 305, with the WS6 Ram Air package. Stock hp for a non-WS6 LT1Formula or T/A was 285.

350z is no match for the ls1

I can't find any performance numbers for the nizmo, just that the 07 has 306HP but no torque ratings and no 0-60 or quarter times. I'd like to see what they are.
What are you asking? What exhaust does the formula have stock? f-bodies haven't had true duals in a long long time. Is his an auto or a stick? I think you'll be surprised how it pulls just in stock form. Throw a few dollars at it and it gets really fast. High 12's out of a stock LS1 isn't unheard of. Low to mid 13's is probably the norm though.

Theres really no big changes between the nismo and regular 350z. Its like saying the transam is a lot faster than the formula and the WS6 rapes them all.

"While the car does get new suspension tuning, Brembo brakes, and NISMO exhaust, the 350Z's 3.5-liter V-6 sits unmodified at 306 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. The stock car's six-speed manual transmission and viscous limited-slip differential also go unchanged. Production will most likely be quite limited, and deliveries begin in July of 2007."

I doubt this new suspension tuning will make up for the numbers its missing.

    NISMO 350z

    Curb Weight: 3353

    BASE 350z

    Curb Weight: 3320

The exhaust system in the NISMO is heavier.

I didn't realize they weigh that much. The formula should handle that thing pretty easily.

The 350Z has 306 fly wheel hp stock while the ls1 has 300 "wheel" hp stock. The 200 lb weight difference is not going to make up for the 40 "wheel" hp difference.

The exhaust system in the NISMO is heavier.

The GF said she saw a 350z that she loved. She took me to see it and all I could do was laugh. Not only did I lough at the name (nismo: hey look at me I'm confirming I'm rice) and the ugly ground effects, but the complete lack of engine mods. But it is one hell of a deal, it only costs $10,000 dollars more.
I like many cars but F**k the Nismo.

Forget HP, our cars have almost 100 more lbs of torque. That's the important
    number.

It is...im saying, camaros weigh a lil bit more...nismo is a standard, formula being an automatic...personally, i think the nismo has it, thats just me. Those cars are so much faster up top...from a dig, id take the formula to 80, after that...idk.

My Dad has a G35. My TA walks it in every category. The 350z isn't much different. Same company.

They are nice cars though. I don't mean to shit talk that car. It's nice. Just not as fast as an ls1.

You know the formula has an ls1 and not a v6... right?

edit: why do you say camaros weight more, but then talk about a formula
Formula is a firebird, not a camaro.

    (sorry, its just weird)

i was lookin at gettin a g35 b4 i came upon my formula , g35 is the xact same car as the 350z but the g35coupe has the 2 back seats. I'd take a g35 over any 350z, that being said 350z+g35<any ls1
