    fixed

I had all sorts of mayhem with my lights going up and down and grinding for several seconds when I locked or unlocked my doors. I removed the arm from the motor shaft and rotated the shaft with the manual headlight adjuster 180, put it all back together and voila- no more grinding!!!!! beforeafter BIG SMILE

I had the same problem. I used the manual headlight up dial on top of the motor to lift the headlight all the way up, removed the plastic shroud around the headlight bulbs for easier access, took the nut off the motor shaft and removed the arm, turned(lowered) the manual adjuster to rotate the motor shaft 180, reattached the arm, lowered the headlight manually and VOILA!!!! No more BS- Works like new

It'll work for awhile untill the other side of the gears wear off.

mine finally wore down. it's not to the point where it makes the clicking noise when it goes down, but when it goes up, about halfway it clicks and sometimes it makes it all the way up and sometimes it doesn't. so i'm going to probably look for another gear and get it fixed. but it did last for a good 4 years! what's weird is the passenger side hasn't gone out once yet. oh well....

    mine was the passenger..

well i took everything apart...then i knew i didnt want to pop the cap off and not get it back on..where the crank connects the the arm..so i put it back together...
and it doesnt rattle and has worked since..i no that it is a matter of time before it goes out again..

but im having someone do it next..

Yup. And I found out how much of a B*itch it was when the epoxy let go not too long after coming home and had to put the brace on. I didn't mind about the paint. It was getting re-done anyway

The new and improved headlight repair kits come with a brace that holds the headlight motor together when/if the epoxy fails. I re-did mine 2 or 3 times and the epoxy would never take and it kept falling apart. I knew it needed a brace but I didn't have the tools or knowledge to fabricate what I needed. I don't think my kit even came with a grommet and the gear slid back and forth.

Another headlight door issue '02 T/A

Occasionally the left headlight door just sits there when I turn the lights on. If I turn them off them back on again it opens just fine. It will do so as many times as you turn them off and on. Leave the lights off a day or so and the left light assembly just sits there. Any thoughts
