probably asked a million times
just curious what would it cost to put a cam in a ls1 car and that would include the other parts as well , like the valve springs etc.Just wanted to get a rough estimate.

do it yourself? just north of $1000, I would change other things too such as oil pump, hardend pushrods, timing chain, to really do it right.
edit: longtube headers definately if you dont already have them

you will need pushrods, springs and lifters will help, timing chain oil pump and a good tune.

you have to pull the heads to do lifters and is not very common on a cam only swap but would be recommended. I think with a tune and all around $1500

Be a good time to throw a U/D pulley on too...seeing how its coming off anyways. Another vote for new oil pump here too.

Camshaft package from tsp, ls6 ported oil pump, a timing chain, and all the gaskets you need was all 1050.xx shipped i believe. Id definately buy NEW SEALS from GM for this project, or you could use the ones that came with the tsp pack, but in process of install one of the seals broke, and he used the stock ones, so you might as well just buy new GM ones theyre 45 dollars shipped.
400 for the install
35 dollars for brake parts cleaner.
300 for the tune.
You do the math, btw i think he asked the cost not what he should get.Last edited by Lunatikgixxer; 11-10-2010 at 06:34 AM.

bare minimum you can just do springs and cam if you feel lucky. wont get much power with stock exhaust and a ls1 intake though
