1st car on second row
I posted another thread on this but have since driven the vehicle and im ready to make an offer on the car nut the code its showing has me concerned.
Its showing code P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
Has anyone had this problem and will it seriously affect the car? How much would it cost to fix?Last edited by nochey; 05-26-2011 at 10:19 PM.

No a rear o2 codes will not effect performance.. It's just telling you your catylist is not operating effectively.. Rear 02 can be turned off by a tuner.. Or you can replace the cats and possibly the rear 02 have the code cleared and call it a day.. The code will usually clear itself too after repairs are made and a few startup and shut down cycles are achieved..

My left bank cat had the same code. Didn't affect performance much just didnt get as good as normal gas mileage. But if the unit becomes completely clogged it will cause problems. Had that happen on my old firebird.

also if you just need a new cat like I did. you can get a new one for less then 200 install it yourself and call it a day.

Eh left side catalytic converter was fucked. Needed replacing. Didn't cause much of a problem. Just gas mileage sucked. Maybe that made more sense. I don't know I'm sitting. In steak and shake pretty much drunk typing on my phone.
