Navy Blue Metallic- 1998 Trans Am
Poly trans/engine mount or stock?
I recently ripped my trans mount in half due to a shift kit and lots of torque. It had the 1LE mount so it had its run for 10 years but I really want to put in poly trans/ motor mounts in because everytime i floor my car my exhaust pipe hits the floor board under me due to engine flex (the exhaust was put in a month after the car came out in 98 so it hits due to poor engineering not bad mounts) Im going to replace the trans mount regaurdless but i dont know what to put in....i definitely want a stronger trans mount and engine mounts but i heard if you go poly the vibrations kill youu...i dont want vibrationss so any suggestions?

Navy Blue, Dark Cherry- 98 M6 TA, 87 A4 TA
I went poly and don't regret it, I don't think they cause much more vibration than new rubber mounts, it may feel that way going from a whooped rubber mount to a new poly but it's not that bad, the firm feel of the shifter is well worth it for me, no shifter swaying right or left as i rev the engine or up and down when I accel/decel.

Blackened fire chicken- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
if you put poly motor and tranny mounts on your car, you would have to adjust the angle on your torque arm, witch would mean buying an adjustable torque arm...anyone correct me if im wrong . same shit happened to me, ripped the stock tranny and motor mounts. i put a poly tranny mount on, and i couldnt stand the vibrations, and its due to the angle of the driveshaft being thrown off from the different sized mount im assuming, witch can be adjusted witch an adjustable torque arm. i dont think its worth the trouble unless your actually taking your car to the track, if its just a street car, just get the stock mounts and imo

I installed a poly transmission mount in our car a few months ago. It lasted all of 2 weeks before I put the stock mount back in.

i had also had the tranny poly mount vibrations after install. I measured from the floor to the tranny and it was about 1/4 inch taller than the stock one. I replaced it with OEM one and strong vibrations were gone.

My poly is vibrant. I like it, but you won't. Just do the stock ones if you don't want vibration.

I did the poly on my 94 TA,I hated the vibration on the highway.
I went back to stock on that car and put a stock one in my 99 TA when it broke.

I am guessing it depends upon which poly mount you get. Seems that it is hit or miss as to how bad the vibration is.

Bat mobile black- 2000 Trans am WS6 M6
i just recently put new poly motor/tranny mounts in about 2 months ago and theyre a hell of a lot better than the shot stock ones i had. No different pinion angle either..

i have poly motor mounts and went to a poly trans mount.... worst experience i ever had, the car felt that the pinion angles were off from 40mph on, went to the strip when i hit 3rd gear(A4) i thought the car was going to fall apart, switched it back to the stocker 2 days later both mounts were exactly the same height side by side....

How about some brands and/or part numbers so we can compare our respective experiences with poly trans mounts? Could be there is one out there that just works better than the others.

I have to go look -- mine was either Energy Suspension or Prothane and it was awful.
