performance chip

well one of my buddies has a 93 t/a its alot faster than mine... he said one of the major things he ahas done to it was put a chip in it.... so i looked on ebay(site like that) for a chip.. didnt find one... looked on jegs summit everything.. still no chip..

where can i find one
for anyone that owns one.. are they worth it
how much are they
what hp should i get

i don't want to be mean here but you don't need a chip and it wouldn't do you much good if you got one. chips were for cars in the 80s when you couldn't reflash the car's computer... you used to have to burn the tune on the chip and plug it in to the car. now you just have the tune put right on the car's computer.... a chip that you go out and buy is crap because it isn't tuned to what you have done to your car, in the old days it was BEST to burn your custom tune to a chip.

so, get a custom tune and forget about chips.

say i were to get my computer flashed...
how much would that cost. where at.. could i customize it to gert the right air and fuel i want or they automotcily do it..

what about the tuners that plug under your dash... wahts the best

If your buddys 93 lt1 is faster then your ls1. he got more then just a chip LOL!

Or your car running on 6 cylinders

Not sure there is even a 'chip' for the LS1 cars.

There are no Chips in LS1 cars because programming of the PCM is now done via software reflashes. The Chips or PROMS you're talking about are OBDI cars only. Late 96 and up LT1's and all LS1's have no chips because of OBDII. You can pick up a flash programmer like Diablosport predator which would be good in your situation to play with if you have bolt ons. If you're gonna get serious then you need a full custom tune. Serious in the words of a Cam. Your buddy has stuff done though. A PROM in a stock LT1 can only do so much. Ask if he has headers, a hot cam, exhaust, pulleys, anything.
