Nah, they don't melt off. You paint the caliper first, then apply the decals, and finish by clearcoating over it all. The high-temp clear coat is enough protection that the decals won't be harmed. These decals can be found everywhere...most of the online stores that sell Fbody vinyl designs/decals will have them. Ebay will have them as well.

I actually painted mine onto the caliper. I bought a vinyl sticker for my rear bumper and just traced it onto something and cut it out.
I know, I know, there's a cobra on the centercap. It came with the car but I've upgraded
