Yeah i was lookin at getting mine painted and i was quoted 3500-4000. Your basically better off selling yours and getting one in the color you want. Sux for me because i want a none factory color.

I'd say your lookin at 5k+. Changing a cars color is not easy. Much of it has to be disassembled so the whole car is the right color. Otherwise those lil places u dont see much, they're gonna be white.

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

easily 5-6k. If the car is paid off, i suggest getting a signature loan [unless the cash is readily available].

Do you want a sunset orange metallic car, or is your paint just starting to look bad? If it's the latter, just get the car completely wetsanded and clear coated-it'll look amazing for way cheaper [no idea on the cost]

    good luck with the decision

If your gonna get it painted dont go with a factory color get something unique other wise your paying 4-5k for something many people already have. Unless your just in love with the color, then get it I guess lol.

I also wish i would have gone with Sunset orange but they are really hard to find and way expesive. I saw one on autotrader today in Wisconsin and it was an 02 with 20k miles and asking price was 27 thousand. That's way high.

I drove by one on my way to work today the thing was immaculate first time i've seen one in town, i was jealous.

sorta.... we do them at my work in maybe a weeks time including prep and paint. of course we paint the cars with front bumber off and doors off also. Havent done a TA or Cammy yet but would prolly paint it with the hatch off so I could paint all the jams and body at once.

Well considering under the car, firewall, and everything on these cars is body color then your looking 8-10K by anyone who is reputable. That is a lot of work and not worth the trouble. The cheapest and easiest thing would be sell and buy another one. Unless you do what GMMG did to there when they change the colors and they did it in satin black underneath the car and hood and then just painted the rest of the car and jambed it out. Saves a lot of money and that is something you could do when you got it back.

forgot about that they are painted on the underbody.... ya to do a total color change it is alot of freakin work. I would personally do a matte or satin black on the underbody. Especailly with the underbody prep thats alot of oils, road grime, etc.

I agree, You are going to pay alot to totally change out the color. All the panels will have to be removed, most of the interior, all weather stripping, etc. IF thats the way you are going to go, then I'd have under the car along with the wheel wells coated with a black rubberized under coating. Then paint everything else body color. As far as the engine bay goes, good luck LoL.

But heres the brightside to things.... If your gonna change the color of the body you might as well do these too

    1. Drop in an ls7 (engine is out anyway)
    2. Put in a 12 bolt (rear is out anyway)
    3. Put in a roll cage (interior is out anyway)
    4. Sub frame connectors (paint them with the underbody)

    why not right?

ooo I wish I had the money to make all of that happen
