Options?
So my car is going to get painted soon and i need a new hood... The dude suggested carbon fiber since its lighter and all and actually found one for about $550 and the fiberglass hood for about $650 more or less... But i don't wanna have the black colored hood going on and Carbon fiber turns yellowish with so much sun right? He also said he wasn't too comfortable with painting over it and wouldn't be able to guarantee the job on the hood... But I wanna see what other hoods there are, I really like the Ram Air style hood with the heat extractors on the sides but i cant find it anywhere! Any other sweet hoods out there? Pics please?

Check out suncoast creations. They make good quality hoods. I have one of their hoods on both my f-bodies.

i recommend finding another painter to paint your car if he can't stand behind his workmanship on painting the hood. it's all about proper prep of the material you're gonna paint.

He's a good painter. But he said he did the carbon fiber paint on his Ducati and he had to redo it recently cause it wont hold as good as any other material so he doesn't recommend painting carbon fiber. Anyways he's doing my truck first and ill judge on that to see if he's worth doing my car too

um. wait. aren't our body panels/fenders carbon fiber? Why would u not go with lighter and stronger? I don't think it should matter, but I've only painted aircraft in my experience, so I can't say whether it would 'yellow'.
Maybe u should NOT paint it and leave it just 'carbon fiber'. lol

Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 T/A Firehawk M6
Sigh.... I think if it ever came down to it I'd find someone to rebuild or recreate my hood. I like the SLP hood. certainly not the meanest looking, that goes to the WS6, but it complements the car perfectly. I so wanted a WS6. I "settled" for a Firehawk, but now I realize I couldn't be happier

Wow, I was very impressed with the VFN Fiberglass WS9 hood with rear heat extractors. If I ever, God forbid get hit in the frontend and destroy the hood, this would be my choice for replacement. Very nice.

No the f-body does not have carbon fiber body panels. You can paint carbon fiber, the hard part is going to be getting it to match the rest of the car. fiber glass and carbon fiber are two different materials and therefore even if you use the same exact paint for bot hthey will not match perfectly.
As for hoods, WS6, ws9, firehawk, raptor and i have always liked this hood mainly because i never see it. Mecham both pics are the same hood, i would ditch the bird decals though

If they are functional I suppose nothing would stop water from entering. What stops it from entering a ram air hood that doesnt have the screens. What stops its from entering my legacys hood on rainy days or at the car wash? Nothing, because a good intake system doesnt suck water in.
