look for a reputable performance shop in your area that specializes in lsx vehicles, they can tune it on the dyno..check around to see who offers lifetime tuning, that way as you mod your car, you can get re-tuned for free.
or you can get a mail order tune from FROST tuning (sponsor on ls1.com)Last edited by jiveass; 01-28-2011 at 11:59 AM.

Dyno tuning is the best way to correctly tune a car for Performance. Since every car is different, and every car has different mods a dyno tune is optimal. dyno tune's allow the tuner to see what the car is doing from the start, and they can adjust the ECM for a peak HP output. Based on what that one car is doing. .
How it works:
You car will be put on a dyno, and hooked to a laptop via the ODB port under the steering wheel. They will made a few passes with the stock car to get a base line reading. from their the tuner can adjust the air/fuel ratio, advance the timing, remove rev limiters etc. They will adjust many things wile making dyno runs in between changes to find the very best combo for your motor to increase power, torque, fuel milage, shift points, adjust for aftermarket tire size and other things.

They generally use whatever gear has a 1:1 ratio.

I would send the ECU in to frost to get tuned, if your only doing an ls6 intake and the lid then i wouldnt drop the money on a dyno tune. I'm sure you plan on doing some exhaust mods save the dyno tune for that.

4th is 1:1. Also, I would wait until you get everything done to get a tune, that way you wont need to retune it when you get more modifications.

Correct, 4th on our cars is 1:1. I just said 1:1 as a general rule of thumb as some other cars could be different depending on which transmission they have.

Definitely go with a mail order tune by Frost for bolt on mods. If you do a heads/cam swap, then you'll want a dyno tune.

I've seen some for around $250-$300 in the Cleveland area, just depends on where you go and the quality of work they do.
