Oil change on ws6???
Hey guys I got a 2000 Trans Am WS6 with 29,000 miles, I want to know what oil would be best for the oil Change. Mobil1 or Royal Purple? I'm sure its 5W-30 that these WS6'S take but I just want to be sure which oil will be best. Also what oil filter? I saw on Mobil 1.com that there ultimate protection oil is the Extended performance 5w-30 oil with M1107 oil filter. What do you guys think Thanks! By the way the previous owner used nothing but Mobil 1 oil and Mobil 1 oil filter.

I run Penzoil Platinum in both our Trans Am and Suburban. I would also use Mobil 1 or Amsoil without hesitation.

I've always used Mobil-1 oil and filters. It may not be the best, though it's hard to choose any one oil as the 'best', but it's certainly good enough that with regular changes I've never had any engine issue. Drove my last TA to 175k miles and the engine was still strong when I sold it. Just bought a 5-quart jug and filter for 33 bucks at Advance the other day...

Yes.- bunch of them
I won't get into the oil argument, it's almost worse than a Ford/Chevy dispute. I have used Mobil 1 since 1988, and we put 451K on a 5.7 TBI '91 GMC Pickup, which ran flawlessly even when it was traded in '99 on the (then) new body style 800 Truck. Why did we sell it? Dad said he was tired of looking at a burgundy dash and hood after nearly half a million miles. LOL

Yea I would agree the Oil decision is hard to make. But I like Mobil 1 synthetic and extended performance M1 filters. Always seems like the car runs smooth on it. Just never dealt with Amsoil or Royal Purple thats why I'm asking. Thanks for the help just wanted to know whats best, I just hesitate to get an oil that I've never used. Mobil1 Customer...

I've used Mobil 1 5w-30 and Fram or Wix filters for most of my cars life. I now use Mobil 1 0w-40 and Mobil 1 Filters.

I always run Mobil 1 with a factory or Mobil 1 filter in everything (except the bike). Have tried almost every oil there was. Mobil seamed to work best for me. But that is just my opinion.
