I buy the 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 at Walmart for 27.00 then a K&N filter for 13.00 at the local parts store. So for 40.00 I am good for the year. I only drive my car about 1800 miles a year.

I don't think I have ever gone long enough between oil/filter changes where a brand would make a difference.
I use synthetic oil only and try to buy premium filters.
You can hardly read the dipstick because the oil is so clean.
I'm sure I would feel differently if I were subjecting my vehicle to severe or extended conditions and not casual driving for enjoyment.

Over 20 years running Castol GTX and Puro filters in everthing I've ever owned.
Never lost an engine to either, and most of my engines (v6's) have seen 7000 rpm on a pretty regular basis..lol
Same goes for all the v8's I've had, but I would never tach them that high. Unless I missed a gear.

H3 gets whatever the dealer dumps in it. It has a warranty..

I use Mobil 1 in 0W-40 and Mobil 1, K&N, or WIX oil filters.

+1 You can usually get the 5 quart jug for around this price at an auto part store or wal-mart. Then I pay 20 bucks for labor and get a synthetic oil change for 60 bucks. But if you go to an oil shop and pay for their synthetic service it is usually $80-90... ridiculous...

Also, I've read in a couple of filter studies that the K&N and Mobil filters are the exact same filter, made by the same manufacturer, and just packaged differently. So I always get whichever one is cheaper on the given day.

They are made by Champion Laboratories. STP and Royal Purple Filters are also made by them.
