    New Tires

So, my tires just came in. The store manager thought it would be a good idea to get them early for me, so I could see them and want to put 'em on right away.

I will resist, tho, so I can continue to murder my old tires with merciless burnouts whenever I can for the next several weeks.

Yeah they're the stock size, but all 4 stacked up they are way fatter than the G8 GT tires we ordered in, that was a 245.

Sure is nice to work for a premium tire company, and the discounts I can get!

You are thinking about ordering some Nitto NT05 DR's come spring and selling them to me...am I right?

Looks like some good meat and tread pattern on those. Have you used them before?

^^^ha, no. And I haven't used these before, but these are the best tires I can get thru work except for some RE 11s, which are not made in my size. I'd have LOVED to get those, however!
I did think about some Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500s, but those are directional instead of asymetrical, and I like to get the tires on all corners at least one time before I wear them out.

Also, I don't have the $$$ to upgrade the diff, which I'm sure would explode under the pressure of a 1.7x 60 ft time on the way to mid 12s. I'm hoping for some 1.9x this summer with these tires.

Shouldn't be an issue for you. Keep us posted on how you like them, and congrats! Tires aren't exactly cheap so you're lucky you get a discount

Nice looking sneakers. +1 on letting us know what you think once they are on the car.

Yeah I can't wait to finally get some decent street tire traction again. I have a set of old Goodyear GS-Cs on now, they were made in 1996! Talk about hard rubber lol, but got them free.
Today was hard on those! Gotta keep an eye out for the po-po so I don't get any stupid tickets.

And, these new Bridgstone summer tires look sick in person, all wide and sh*t for a stock size, especially all four stacked.

those were the last set of tires i had! i just got the firehawk indy 500's about 2 months ago...i think i like the bridgestone potenzas a little better though. plus the potenzas have the asymmetrical tread, so you can rotate them left to right...the firehawks are directional, but the tread looks kinda cool, haha!

I was going to put these on the V if I still had it this spring. These were highly suggested by the guys at tire rack when I stopped in to see them last spring.

That was the main reason I chose the Potenzas over the Firehawks., asymetrical vs. directional. I can't get the camber more positive than -.2 and it wears the RF on the inside. Left side is .3. At least this way I can rotate them to all corners.
So, you think you had a better grip w/the 760 Sport?

I would love to drive around Indy with the Indianapolis 500 logo on the sidewall, but the discount was better for the Potenzas. You guys don't wanna know the price for employees, makes me want to get new tires every year.

Not really. The profit margin is pretty slim. Material prices have really gone up, and they can't absorb the increases anymore.

For example, our profit magin on this particular tire is only about $25.

That would be 340. Misleading, since you can only compare the treadware rating among the same tire manufactures. All tire companies have their own base tire, which is 100. They then compare all the other tires they make against that one, not a government tire.

Doing my best to wear out the old tires. Multiple, and I mean MULTIPLE, burnouts and the rear tread still looks decent. Maybe I just need to do a 30 second burnout in front of my friends house and melt the road a bit lol.

Here's a recent pic of the tires I am trying to burn up:

    More abuse:

I have all four on now. The car handles so much better, it's like night and day. No more massive burnouts, at least until these are 70% worn!

I would check discount tire direct first, they have free shipping, tire rack doesn't.I have checked both (just bought a set for my m/c yesterday) and with the free shipping factored in discount beats tire rack everytime, not to mention discount carries Nitto and tire rack doesn't. Nitto nt555 extremes were the best tire I have ever put on a car they rock!

Just ordered 4 tires from them on Wednesday. They will be at my house today. The rep gave me a slight discount without even asking - and free shipping!!! No one could touch their price.

I went with Continental ExtremeContact DW after doing some researching on line for a few days.

Hmm....I wonder if they will be better than the stock tires I have on my TA now. After all, they are only 12 years old...
